Based on a report by The Hindu Business Line, Mercedes-Benz India will be entering the premium segment with the A-Class this coming summer. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said that although it would be the first time for the A-Class to hit the Indian market, it would be the refreshed version of the model. He stated that the move is aimed to go against the BMW X1. Starting next month until the rest of the year, the company will also be releasing the new GL, CLA, E-Class and the diesel type B-Class.

The position of the company in the Indian market seemingly remains strong which is the reason why they are confident with the move according to several sources. It was further revealed in the news that the company is thinking about making a facility at the Chakan, Maharashtra area to serve as its export destination.
