Sad news for petrolheads, Mercedes-AMG boss Michael Schiebe just denied rumors of the AMG C63 and E63 models getting back to V8 engines. The anticipation around the potential return of the eight-cylinder powerhouse has been quashed during a recent interview with the AMG CEO. A Departure from Rumors Dispelling the speculations that arose this month, the AMG CEO unequivocally denied the possibility of an eight-cylinder revival for the C63 and E63 models in an interview with The Drive. Mercedes-Benz informed dealers that it was canceling production of most of its V8 engines in favor of 4-cylinder turbo/hybrid engines. This is a result of supply chain problems, not a reason attributed to the automaker’s change to electric vehicles. However, saying goodbye to the production of Mercedes V8 engines won’t remove most Benzes from the market because most of the cars are available with a selection of engines. Up to 17 Mercedes models will be affected, and that includes AMG models. Mercedes-Benz is apparently having supply chain problems that have resulted in the shortage of V8 engines for its luxury and sports vehicles. Despite the setback, the company still has other power units that should keep its other models going. However, there are concerns about other automakers that rely on the three-pointed star marque’s engines particularly Aston Martin. Mercedes-Benz revealed that the X-Class pickup may be offered with a V8 engine. However, it only comes under a certain condition. For now, the most potent trim of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup is the X350d 4MATIC. The model comes with 255 hp and 550 Nm of torque. I was browsing in YouTube for some cool car videos recently when I came across one, which was uploaded by a user called TheTFJJ, about a really noisy Weistec Mercedes C63 AMG. The car was producing so much engine noise that it set off the alarm of nearby cars and stores around Sloane Street. Also seen in the video was an Audi R8 trying to compete with the monstrous sound produced by the decatted C63 AMG. German Special Customs unveiled its tuned up Mercedes G-Class last week. The iconic G-Class was fitted by the aftermarket firm with a couple of styling upgrades to make its visuals more striking.
