Mercedes-Benz just quietly released a new addition to its SL roadster variant in its official website, which is called the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL 400. The revitalized line features new engine specs as well as a more accessible price for buyers. The new version ditched its predecessor’s V8 engine and replaced it with an all-new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with a displacement of 2996 cc. The engine’s listed output is 329 hp with 354 lb-ft of torque. The power of the car is distributed through its seven-speed automatic gearbox. An autocar.co.uk report revealed that a new turbo-charged V8 engine may be being developed by AMG for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Unnamed sources have indicated that the naturally-aspirated 6.2-L V8 engine on the C-Class will be replaced with a turbo-charged 4.0-L V8 engine by AMG. The new V8 engine will feature a similar modular design that is used on the four-cylinder 2.0-L engine of the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. No, the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG will not have the rumored V6 engines. Mercedes-Benz have decided that they will continue with the 5.5L V8 engines which they based on the AMG M157 5.5L N8 biturbos that is found in the CL63, E63, CLS 63 and S63 models. The V8 engine, that’s made of aluminum is donned with the AMG Cylinder Management System that makes the vehicle’s fuel efficiency increase because it shuts off the 4-cylinders from 800 to 3,600rpm.
