Project Kahn creates Royal Wedding gift

Project Kahn Maybach 57 Royal Wedding 11 597x398 Project Kahn creates Royal Wedding gift

Tuning company Project Kahn has come up with a wonderful idea to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. They’ve decided to give the royal couple a tribute to their wedding in the form of an adrenaline pumping Maybach 57 limousine, tuned of course.

As you can see in the images, the car has been fitted with a “4 HRH” license plate which is short for “For His Royal Highness”. It’s a far cry from the traditional stamps, memorabilia and coins which are made to commemorate grand events. Modern times however demand a modern twist to show appreciation for Britain’s nobility, Project Kahn takes matters into their own hands with a masterpiece that is the Maybach 57.

Wearing 22-inch Kahn RS’s and smoked taillights against a bespoke pearl white exterior, the Maybach 57 befits the royal couple perfectly in terms of admirable potential. Its interior has been blessed with some neat accessories such as an ultra lightweight golf umbrella, made even lighter by its carbon fiber shaft, plus a Kahn key ring.

Project Kahn chief Afzal Kahn shares that his company “understands the meaning of travelling in style and with the conversion we perform on this prestige vehicle there is no more of a stylish way to travel. The 4 HRH number plate is worthy of befitting a vehicle such as the Project Kahn Maybach 57. And as a proud Englishman and designer, this is our way of wishing the royal couple many happy years together.” Well, let’s hope Kate and William do end up well. For now, check out their gift in the gallery below.

Waitrose Taps Gas-Powered Merc Sprinters to Slash Carbon Footprint

Bracknell-based UK upmarket supermarket chain Waitrose has just acquired a quintet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter NGT models. NGT stands for Natural Gas Technology, and this means that the Sprinters all run on Liquid Bio-methane, sustainable natural gas that was made from landfill gas. The move aims to bolster Waitrose’s green initiatives as the vans operate from locations outside London.

“This is a very exciting project,” said Ray Collington, who works as the fleet engineer for Waitrose parent company, the John Lewis Partnership. “We are committed to reducing our CO2 footprint, which is why much of our own food waste goes back into anaerobic digestion.”

The five NGT Sprinters were supplied by Rygor Commercials in Reading. Each weighs 3.5 tons, equipped with Hubbard refrigeration units and insulated bodies created by Gray & Adams. There are also a variety of other NGT panel vans such as dropsiders, chassis cabs, and Traveliner minibus options. There’s also a 5.0-ton variant of the NGT chassis cab.

“We’re keen to learn as much as we can from these new vehicles, because we firmly believe that gas has a viable future as an alternative fuel source,” added Collington. “Bio-methane gives us a high-performance fuel produced using locally-sourced, sustainable materials – it is a genuine alternative to diesel for us in some applications.”

Waitrose has a total of 244 stores in England, Scotland and Wales and is constantly proclaimed “Britain’s favourite supermarket.”

It has been ten years since Smart sold its first vehicle in the UK. To celebrate the occasion, the company launched a brand new limited edition model that they’re calling the Smart Fortwo GB-10. It will be up for display in the Smart Festival that will fall on the 4th of September this year. How limited? Smart UK says that they’ll only be selling 100 of these babies, which will all be wearing a special ’1 of 100′ badge.

The GB-10 will have four variants, namely the 50 MHD Coupe, the 10 MHD Cabrio, the 30 CDI Coupe and the 10 CDI Cabrio. Each of these will have Pioneer’s AVIC-F910BT audio and navigation system, air conditioning, power windows, and Panoramic roof, all of which will be standard equipment.

To make the GB-10 even more special, Smart is throwing in a good dose of Brabus hardware. All variants will have Brabus’ Monoblock Vii 15″ alloys, LED daytime running lights and third brake lamp. If you opt for the Premium interior package, Smart will put an extra GB-10 logo on the Brabus shift knob and the emergency brake. The GB-10 logo will also be sown onto heated, Rosso-red leather seats. The same bit of luxury will be present on the door panels, kneepad as well as e-brake gator, while the upper-half of the dashboard will be a contrast between black Alcantara and silver on much of the instruments.

Wondering what to do for your next summer vacation? How about being part of Mercedes-Benz’s biggest summer holiday programme yet? To be held in its brand experience center around Weybridge, Surrey, the event offers several attractions that are sure to win the hearts of Mercedes-Benz fans everywhere.

To begin with, the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy will be setting up guests to drive along with 2008 Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. It’s not going to be a leisurely drive though, as Lewis is unlikely to take things easily behind the wheel. If you win, though, no doubt you will be immortalized as the guest who beat Lewis Hamilton to the checkered flag. That’ll be the event’s highlight. A series of challenges will see who gets to team up against Lewis in the finale.

Off road lovers, meanwhile, will be able to take the M-Class for a spin outdoors—all 10 acres of it—alongside a professional driver manning the secondary controls to the SUV. This attraction is appropriately called the Kids 4×4 Driving Experience, probably to bring out the outdoor-loving kid in you.

Dubbed the ‘Summer Challenge’, it will all boil down to a hundred top scorers who’ll be returning on September 4 in teams to compete in the Grand Finale with Lewis. So suit up and get your family in high gear. It’s going to be one big summer party with Mercedes-Benz.

Citroen marketing guru Gary Savage joins Mercedes-Benz UK

What do you do when your job no longer excites you or pays you enough? You quit – plain and simple. That’s exactly what Citroen UK’s Gary Savage did when offered a high spot at Mercedes-Benz Cars UK. Savage is set to replace Dermot Kelly, whose last day falls at the end of June.

Savage, who is just half a month away from celebrating his first year with Citroen UK, lead the marketing and brand development team for Russia since June of 2009. Even before that, he was also sales and marketing boss for Audi UK. So you could say he’s gone around the industry quite a few times.

Mercedes-Benz UK President and CEO Wilfried Steffen recognizes Savage’s credentials, having delivered remarkable results to both Audi and Citroen in the past. Having convinced the boss himself, Savage has been appointed to join the Mercedes-Benz team in UK.

Part of Savage’s new job description in Mercedes-Benz is to head the implementation of passenger car strategies in order to boost sales and bring customer service and professionalism of dealers to the highest level according to brand values. Basically, he’s been hired to continue and hopefully improve what Kelly had started.

Citroen North Europe Sales Director Christopher Musy has taken over as interim marketing and brand development head whilst Citroen UK finds a replacement for Savage.
