Female Mercedes Employees Moonlight As Rally Drivers

Placing first in class last year gave the impetus for Mercedes and a group of its female employees to enter for the third year in a row the “Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc”. Covering a distance of 2500 kilometers, this desert rally takes place in Morocco and consists of seven stages. Rather than garnering fastest times, winners are determined by which team is able to cover the shortest distance between checkpoints – without the aid of GPS units, cellphones or any other electronic aids. Even binoculars are banned. For the 2012 entries, Daimler has entered three vans: two Vitos and one Sprinter. The new generation Vito models have been modified… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Sprinter Van Shames Ordinary Limos

Despite being boxy and relatively aged-looking, Mercedes’ Sprinter van continues to be a versatile and popular platform for transporting goods and, in this case, executives. With its tall roof, the Sprinter van gives people enough room to stand up and move about. To ensconce their intended market in the lap of luxury, Brilliant Transportation pulled out all stops to transform the plebian sprinter into a chariot worthy of any power broker. The Brilliant Van is basically an ultra-luxurious limousine with a massive amount of headroom. Departing from the airport shuttle image of the Sprinter, Brilliant has installed leather captain’s chairs facing a bank of electronic aids (don’t say gadgets!) for… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Sprinters Recalled

According to Mercedes-Benz USA, there are five models of the Sprinter van being recalled at the moment, thanks to an interior trim issue affecting some 2007 and 2010 models of the Sprinter 2500 and 3500. In the five vehicle models affected, the right interior trim might not be installed, which will cause the vehicle to fail the “Occupant Protection in Interior Impact” component of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 201. With the wrong trim in place, there is an increased risk of injury in the event that the car gets involved in an accident where the A-pillar is impacted. If you own any of the affected Sprinter models, February… Continue Reading »
