Launched in December 2012, car2go Seattle now has over 40,000 people registered to the service who share the 500 fortwo vehicles as they go from point to point within the city. Smart Car Sharing: Milan Gets car2go Service

This month marks another milestone in Daimler’s car2go car-sharing service, as Milan gets to enjoy a fleet of 450 smart fortwo vehicles slated to be fully available by the middle of September. While the smart eco-friendly vehicle brand certainly isn’t the biggest moneymaker in the Daimler stable, those vehicles together with the car2go platform allows the German automaker to make good on its promise of delivering sustainable automotive solutions, particularly for urban mobility applications that are focused upon by car2go. Being able to expand into a city like Milan expands the platform’s reach and should allow for better positioning in the European marketplace moving forward. If car2go continues to reach… Continue Reading »

Electric Scooter from smart Slated for 2014

Daimler is going to try expanding the smart product line once again, this time with an electric scooter that’s set to bolster the brand in 2014. The new product is seen as something that not only ties up with the company’s goals, but also as something that can perk up smart’s earning power. In terms of sales figures and earnings, smart isn’t exactly the cash cow among Daimler’s many divisions. With losses adding up to around 1.5 billion euros ($1.93 billion) since 1998, it’s important to expand the product range. The electric scooter will also help solidify smart’s status as a specialist for city transport, since allows the brand to… Continue Reading »
