The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been revisited by the engineers from McChip who updated their “MC700” program. We remind you the naturally-aspirated V8 6.2-liter engine of the stock model is good enough for a more than impressive 571 HP (420 kW) and a peak torque of 479 lb-ft (650 Nm). The upgrade program developed by the German tuner includes a remapped ECU, a mechanically-driven compressor and a custom Capristo exhaust system. Thanks to these tweaks, the V8 engine of the SLS AMG is now capable of producing no less than 680 HP (500 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm), representing a significant increase of 109 HP (80 kW) and 88… Continue Reading »

Modified cars are definitely a hit with customers. It enables them to make a statement regarding their individuality. This is the reason why the customized AMG cars from Mercedes-Benz are creating such a noise in the market since they were unveiled in 2010. Since I don’t have the statistics to support my observation, let us just feast our eyes on the new set of wheels that this SLS received from HRE. If you’ve still got any doubt that the Mercedes SLS AMG is a supercar, if not an exotic, then take a look at this video of Mercedes-AMG’s hellion matched up against a Ferrari 458. On paper, the engines of the two cars are pretty much even, both being highly-tuned V8s, and being a couple of horsepower shy of 565 stallions. However, the stats will show that the Ferrari is about 250 pounds lighter than the SLS AMG. That’s the equivalent of one or two passengers. Which makes it a bit of a surprise why the Ferrari doesn’t get a big jump on the SLS on the acceleration runs. Torque and… Continue Reading »
At this year’s Paris Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz is giving us a first look at the production ready SLS AMG Electric Drive. It’s certainly no wimpy electric car though; this fully fledged AMG supercar has 740 horsepower and will launch itself from 0 to 60mph in less than 4 seconds. It’s also got a ridiculous 737lb/f of torque. These statistics will make the SLS the fastest and most powerful production electric car in the world, though not the fastest SLS. Top speed will be, of course, limited to 155mph, but Mercedes-Benz anticipates that this will be reached easily.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is all over the web now. Months before its debut, there are lots of spy photos of the ultimate car, all because of the rigid testing that the car manufacturer is doing to ensure that it will be one of the best cars that the world will ever see and ride.
