Mercedes-Benz USA reported September sales of 18,779 vehicles, bringing the company’s year-to-date volume to 177,298, a 1.6 percent decrease over its year-to-date record set last year.

After its first full year on the market, the new generation C-Class model line set a record for September sales with 6,772 units, an 11.9 percent jump over the 6,052 C-Class units sold last September. C-Class sport and luxury models also set a record year-to-date with a sales increase of 35.8 percent (57,365 vs. 42,236 units). True to form, the C-Class continued to be the sales volume leader for the diverse Mercedes-Benz product portfolio.

On the SUV side, the volume leader was the M-Class which continued to demonstrate gains with a sales increase of 1.1 percent for September sales (2,981 vs. 2,948 units). This brings M-Class sales for the year-to-date to 25,498 units, a 6.4 percent increase over the first three quarters of last year.

Daimler AG today reported sales for the Mercedes-Benz Cars division (Mercedes-Benz and smart combined this time) of 22,121 units in the U.S. for June 2008, which is a 12.9% increase over the same period last year. Yesterday’s post was referring only to the Mercedes-Benz company and didn’t include the smart brand, which is why today’s sales numbers look much better. We apologize if that caused any confusion.

Daimler AG said today, that U.S. sales of Mercedes-Benz totaled 19,576 units in June, down 0.1% from the same month last year. They also said that they sold 2,545 smart cars in past month, which seems pretty low, but you’ll have to take into account the waiting list of anywhere between 9 months and 1 year. Talk about demand.

Year-to-date, U.S. sales of Mercedes-Benz are up 0.9% at 119,279.

The smart fortwo continues to do extremely well after slightly more than a year on the market: the two-seater set a new record in May 2008 with sales of 13,000 units (May 2007: 12,200), an increase of 6%. Year-to-date sales of the small flitzer were up 73% compared to the same time last year. Sales in the US increased 13.8% for the month of May and 11.3% for YTD.

Mercedes-Benz USA today reported its highest May on record with sales of 21,785 new vehicles, a 0.1 % increase over last May. Sales for the month brought MBUSA’s year-to-date volume to 99,703 new vehicles, a 1.1 % increase compared to the first five months of 2007.

Passenger car sales of 16,416 vehicles showed an increase of 4.6 percent over last May. Sales of the legendary SL roadster, one of MBUSA’s first 2009 models to hit dealer showrooms, increased by 60.4 percent (1,083 vs. 675 units). The volume leading C-Class also demonstrated impressive growth with
an increase of 43.9 percent for the month (7,394 vs 5,139 units). In the light truck category, the award-winning M-Class SUV increased 4 percent (2,706 vs. 2,601 units), while sales of the G-Class rose 11.3 percent (79 vs. 71
