Lotus Will Shift to Mercedes Engines Next Season

Another team in Formula One is joining the Mercedes-Benz bandwagon. According to reports, Lotus F1 Team just inked a deal with the German automaker for a supply of Mercedes engines in the 2015 racing season. Mercedes AMG Petronas has been dominant this season. This is evidenced by the series of victories achieved by its drivers over the completed races of this year. The third generation of smart cars have been caught on video during a recent testing. These are fruits of the partnership forged between Mercedes-Benz and Renault. Daimler, Renault Working on New Large Van?

According to a report on Bloomberg, Daimler is in talks with Renault on a possible cooperation for a new large van model, yet another instance of the existing pact between the two automakers. A Daimler spokeswoman, Uta Leitner, has confirmed from Stuttgart that there are discussions with Renault, but that these are “early talks.” Raluca Barb, speaking for Renault, has also confirmed that there have been talks, and she added that there are still decisions to make, particularly where production sites are concerned. Mercedes-Benz Citan Unveiled

We already posted about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Citan urban delivery vehicle, and now the van has been unveiled by the company ahead of its formal unveiling at the Hanover International Motor Show in the middle of September this year. The Citan is designed with European cities in mind and expands the automaker’s van lineup for that continent. It is available with a range of engines, which includes a 113hp supercharged gas engine as well as a trio of direct-injection turbodiesel engines between 74hp and 109hp. Rumor: Daimler and Renault-Nissan Planning an Engine Plant?

According to a report from the Financial Times Germany, Daimler and Renault-Nissan are looking for a plant site in North America. And that plant will produce engines made and designed by the two companies. Daimler added 2.4 billion dollars in the Tuscaloosa plant, creating 1,400 new jobs. Meanwhile, Infiniti (Nissan) will also build a new plant in Tennessee in 2012. Renault-Nissan to Supply Engines for Merc A- and B-Class

There have already been reports that AMG power plants will be used by a future crop of vehicles in Renault-Nissan’s Infinity Performance Line, but apparently the alliance between Renault-Nissan and Daimler isn’t just a one-sided affair. There have been indications that Renault-Nissan will be supplying engines for Merc’s next-gen A-Class and B-Class models.
