Mercedes-Benz G-Class Rolls Off Its 300,000th Unit

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been in production for the last 38 years and a few days ago, it rolled off its 300,000th unit. The car will be on display for the next months, and you can follow its “progress” through its very own hashtag, “Gventure300k”. Why is the 300,000th production of the G-Class, which stands for Geländewagen, so important? Basically, it’s because the six-digit starting price is not for everyone. Hand-built SUVs such as the variants produced from the iconic G-Class cost a fortune and you don’t see too many people ordering it from Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, the company to which Mercedes has outsourced the G-Class’ production to. There… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Aims To Increase Production By 13% In 2012

There’s something we mere consumers must not be aware of, as couple of major manufacturers are eyeing double digit increases in production output for the incoming year. First of all, Toyota had announced that it’s increasing manufacturing outputs by 20% for 2012. Then this week, Mercedes announced its intention to increase its own output by 13%. This comes on the heels of record sales for the German manufacturer, and despite the general economic uncertainties that have curbed consumer spending somewhat. New Production Record For Mercedes-Benz

The number 125 is an auspicious one for Mercedes-Benz.  As followers of this blog and all things Mercedes know, this is the year Mercedes-Benz is celebrating its 125th anniversary as an automobile manufacturer. But perhaps just as important and significant for a company that intends to be on the map for the foreseeable future, 125, plus four zeros after it, represents the number of vehicles the company will be producing this year. This more than 1.25 million record follows the production record set last year. Says Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard: “Mercedes-Benz is going on the attack.
