Hamilton wins pole for Italian Grand Prix; Rosberg in row 2

Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton captured yet another pole position, beating out Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen for the chance to start at the front of the grid at the 2015 Italian Grand Prix. Raikkonen’s teammate Sebastian Vettel qualified at P3, followed by Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in p4. The qualifying times were close, with Hamilton emerging on top thanks to his 1:23.397. Raikkonen was at 1:23.631, which was just a shade better than Vettel’s 1:23.685. Rosberg topped out at 1:23.703. This most recent pole is Hamilton’s seventh straight and eleventh out of twelve GPs so far in the 2015 Formula One season. Seven straight poles were the best done by Alain Prost… Continue Reading »

2015 Belgian Grand Prix qualifying: Lewis Hamilton takes pole for Mercedes; Rosberg P2

Mercedes AMG Petronas was able to get back in the groove with another front-row lockout in qualifying for the 2015 Belgian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton secured his tenth pole position in 11 races so far this season. Teammate Nico Rosberg stayed close until Q3, but was unable to take pole from Hamilton and thus settled for P2. Of course, a good start could see Rosberg right up there with Hamilton to start the race. With Rosberg competitive all weekend, there’s no doubt he’ll give Hamiton a run for his money. This pole also happens to be Hamilton’s sixth straight, and that puts him in a tie with Mika Hakkinen, who set… Continue Reading »

F1 Mercedes-AMG Petronas Chief Demands Focus From Drivers

It’s nearly a month since the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix concluded. But no one in Mercedes-AMG Petronas was happy about how it ended. The event displayed Mercedes at its weakest this season. Lewis Hamilton finished sixth while Nico Rosberg came in eighth after a series of troubles encountered by each driver from the start up to the middle of the race. Thus, Toto Wolff called for more focus from its drivers in order to ensure their grip on the lead. With nine more races to go and the vulnerability displayed by the team last race, tension is running high. Wolff believes they could still lose if their drivers relax… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Drivers Get Their Worst Finish This F1 Season

The recently concluded Hungarian Grand Prix was the worst performance of Mercedes-AMG Petronas as a team this Formula One season so far. Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line sixth while Nico Rosberg followed in the eighth place. Early on, Hamilton fell behind in the 10th position after going off the tracks. He managed to squeeze his way to the fourth position, but he had to go to the pits when he damaged his front wing as he tried to overtake Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo. He was consequently penalized for the incident. Rosberg tried to capitalize on the situation only to suffer his own share of frustration. Once more, Ricciardo was involved in the… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton cruises to Canadian GP victory as Mercedes clinches another one-two finish

Looks like Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton got over his Monaco heartbreak easily. He drove as well as he could have at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend on his way to a race win from pole position, ahead of the fourth Mercedes one-two finish of the season. Hamilton finished  a comfortable 2.285 seconds ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, putting some separation (7 more points) between the two competitors. The defending champion is ahead in the championship race, 151 points to 134 after seven races. Williams’ Valtteri Bottas joined the two Mercedes drivers on the podium. Montreal is where Hamilton won his first F1 race back in 2007, so the… Continue Reading »

F1: Rosberg upsets Hamilton to win 2015 Monaco GP

Nico Rosberg claimed his third-straight Monaco Grand Prix victory, after a questionable decision to pit Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton’s car when the safety car went out caused the latter to re-enter the race in third, putting the Briton’s dominating weekend to waste. This marks the second consecutive race win for Rosberg, while the team is now six out of six when it comes to getting both drivers to finish on the podium. Hamilton had once again built up a considerable gap from out in front, at least for a good first 64 laps until Max Verstappen’s accident prompted the safety car to come out. It was then that the decision was… Continue Reading »
