Contract Renewal Talks with Hamilton Take on a Sour Turn

A new report claimed that the contract renewal of Lewis Hamilton is currently not falling in his favor. According to The Guardian, the salary of the Briton from Mercedes might be reduced significantly in his new contract. Presently, Hamilton is bound by his £60 million contract with Mercedes, which will expire in about 16 months. Last July, it was hinted by sources within the company that the upper-echelon of the three-pointed star marque is planning to increase the former World Champion’s pay to make it more or less £69. The new contract would be good for a period of three years, which will expire in 2017. There would also be an option to extend… Continue Reading »

Rosberg, Mercedes Settle for Second Place at Belgian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo played the role of spoilsport, taking the title at the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, as Mercedes AMG Petronas and Nico Rosberg had to settle for a second-place finish despite taking the pole position in qualifying. Even worse, contact between the two Mercedes cars early in the race resulted in a puncture in Lewis Hamilton’s ride, and the Brit eventually had to retire in lap 38. According to the commentators covering the race, Mercedes is pretty much pinning the blame for the incident on Rosberg, and most probably justifiably so. Still, it is a fairly common racing accident and there seemed to be nothing malicious about it. Regardless, this… Continue Reading »
