Mercedes F1 team celebrates with 50,000 spectators at Stars & Cars

Freshly crowned 2014 Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton and teammate slash 2014 runner-up Nico Rosberg, along with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, were all joined by some 50,000 people on hand at the Stars & Cars event in Stuttgart, Germany. The event, which was held around Mercedes-Benz Museum, featured a 1.1-kilometer temporary show track where classic Silver Arrows and the current F1 car paraded. Mercedes-Benz Museum Celebrates 8th Birthday on May 25

The Mercedes-Benz Museum houses the rich and colorful history of the Mercedes-Benz brand as well as the other brands associated with it. The museum sits in the international headquarters of Daimler AG at Stuttgart, Germany. Its masterfully-designed structure was completed and opened on May 19, 2006. Overall, the building has an exhibit area of 16,500 square meters. The vehicles within the complex number more than 160, which highlight the century-year old story of Mercedes, Daimler and their other brands. 6 SLS AMG GT3 to Compete in Spa-Francorchamps 24-Hour Race

A total of six Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 gullwing racers will compete at the upcoming Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race on July 27 to 28, representing five AMG customer teams: Black Falcon, Fortec Motorsports, HTP Gravity Charouz, Preci-Spark, and ROWE RACING. The 65th year of the event is the Blancpain Endurance Series’ season highlight, and it will feature the largest GT3 selection in the world. [F1] Mercedes Still Hoping to Get Some Run at Young Driver Test

The Mercedes F1 team got a fairly minor punishment for its role in what has come to be known as TyreGate, being suspended from the scheduled young driver test on July 17 to 19 at the Silverstone circuit. Former Mercedes-Benz Driver and Rally Legend Eugen Böhringer Dies at 91

Eugen Böhringer, one of the most successful drivers at the helm of a Mercedes-Benz in the 1960s, passed away last June 19 in Stuttgart. The rally legend, who took the 1962 European rally title, was 91. Klaus Kaiser, one-time rally partner of Böhringer, commented that the rally driver “always gave his best,” during the 1992 celebration of the man’s 70th birthday. This was a testament to Böhringer’s great skill in taking heavy saloon vehicles of that time period through the most grueling and difficult rally routes.
