Mansory Tunes the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4 Squared

Early this month, we have witnessed the work of Brabus with the Mercedes-Benz G500 Squared or the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42. Not to be outdone, German tuning firm Mansory also did the same to the vehicle. Mansory chose the sky blue version of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42 to highlight its new G-Class package. The upgrade provided a boost in the iconic SUV’s engine plus some cosmetic changes in both its exterior and interior. Mansory retained the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine of the G500 4×42. However, the tuner increased the output of the G-Class by 62 hp. So from the standard 416 hp produced by the SUV, the specialist cranked up the numbers to a total of 478 hp. The torque… Continue Reading »

1961 Mercedes-Benz 300d Bought for Only $1,500

The 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300d limousine is definitely a head-turner. It has that classic and elegant appeal that makes you wish you had one or at least get to ride one, if you are a true car enthusiast. When the car came out in 1961, it retailed around $11,000. During that time, it was worth more than a Rolls-Royce. The Mercedes-Benz 300d limo pictured above was bought at that price by an unnamed U.S. Army captain stationed in Germany 55 years ago. Barry Sohnen purchased the Mercedes-Benz 300d 38 years ago. He only shelled out $1,500 for the auto. The owner stated that the car is his oldest possession to date. However, he noted that he spent… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz CLS Gets a Stealth Wrap

M&D Exclusive Car Design recently pimped up a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS 500. The firm gave the car what it called the “Stealth” wrap and rechristened it as the CLS 500 PD550 Black Edition Stealth. The wrap was probably intended to let the CLS blend in the concrete jungle as M&D wrapped it in a combination of Matte charcoal or Matte black over Matte white complete with orange accents. However, one might argue that the wrap does not make the car stealthy at all. Well, we might have to agree with that as the CLS already commands a lot of attention because it belongs in the top hierarchy of Mercedes. Then the wrap in… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Sales in June Overtaken by BMW

BMW AG’s BMW luxury car brand just overtaken Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz as well as Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus in terms of sales in the United States in the month of June. The three mentioned brands are by far the best performers in the US luxury car segment. However, Mercedes sales are the highest based on a half year data. According to a report from Bloomberg, BMW sales in US fell by 10 percent last month. The brand only reflected sales amounting to 28,473 units. Despite that, it was able to bag the lead in the American market during that period. Mercedes sales rose up to 1.5 percent in the month… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Unconcerned About Google

Apple and Google have started to wade into the waters of the automotive industry, and Mercedes-Benz is aware of these developments. However, the German luxury vehicle manufacturer is not afraid of the new entries into the market, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The executives of the company have confidence on its future success rather than worrying about the entry of the two tech giants into the market. A recent press event in the United States saw officials in the company saying they are expecting more changes to come into the automotive industry in the next ten years compared to the last five decades. Mercedes-Benz US CEO Dietmar Exler… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Electronics Failure

One video posted on YouTube shows a Mercedes-Benz A-Class seemingly having a nervous breakdown in its electronics component. The display, speedometer, entertainment system are all going haywire. While no explanation was provided in the description of the video, the title suggests that the Mercedes might have been hacked or simply having a problem in its electronic components. Previously, alarms were raised when issues about a possible hacking of autonomous vehicles surfaced. Two years ago, IT experts Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek showed us that it is possible. However, it involves dismantling the dashboard and manually connecting a computer to the CAN bus of the auto. It should be noted though that the… Continue Reading »
