New Production Record For Mercedes-Benz

mercedes ends slr production in 2009 New Production Record For Mercedes Benz

The number 125 is an auspicious one for Mercedes-Benz.  As followers of this blog and all things Mercedes know, this is the year Mercedes-Benz is celebrating its 125th anniversary as an automobile manufacturer. But perhaps just as important and significant for a company that intends to be on the map for the foreseeable future, 125, plus four zeros after it, represents the number of vehicles the company will be producing this year. This more than 1.25 million record follows the production record set last year.

Says Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard: “Mercedes-Benz is going on the attack. We are securing our path to the top by extensively investing in the expansion of our high-performance production network.” What Dr. Bernhard was elaborating on is the fact that Mercedes is spending billions of Euros to expand its production capacity in line with increasing sales. Apart from vehicle assembly lines, the German carmaker is also setting aside a multi-billion fund earmarked for the production of axles, transmissions and other powertrain components.

After Daimler and BAIC’s agreement to expand their partnership in China with more projects, Mercedes- Benz announced that the first China-made GLK SUV will be rolled off in the Beijing Plant on Monday.

Ulrich Walker, Chairman of Daimler Northeast Asia commented, “Nothing represents our long-term commitment to China more tangibly than the production of vehicles in China itself: The localized production of further Mercedes-Benz models is an important element of our growth strategy for the Chinese market.”

This is the third model that China will be producing, the first ones are the C-Class and E-Class and more will be added until 2015, and they estimate to sell more than 300,000 more until then. The car manufacturer was already able to sell 168,940 vehicles in China, that is, only from January to November 2011.

The Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG as Pursuit Car

A matte black Mercedes-Bezn ML63 AMG became Pursuit ML63. A pursuit car that is armed with a high-technolgy camera, it should run real fast because, well, it’s used to capture shots of fast cars for advertising purposes.

In this video directed by New York Film Director Henry Corra of Corra Films, the Pursuit team talks about why they chose the ML63 AMG as their pursuit car, the number one reason being, “the safety factor of using a Mercedes camera car is huge”. They say “bring the Mercedes here” instead of “bring the camera crane here”, which makes the car synonymous to this much needed technology. Watch the video and check out the behind-the-scenes of a car ad, and why they chose Mercedes-Benz as their pursuit vehicle.

People are trying to search for more Earth-friendly solutions to transportation needs. Refrigerator vans, for example, are now becoming necessities, especially in business. That’s why, refrigeration van specialist Kerstner is launching the first ref van of the Mercedes Vito E-Cell in Lyon/France for the Solutrans Show. This will be on showcase today until December 3.

The Kerstner refrigeration unit will be zero-emmission as it is run by lithium-ion battery. Additionally, it is independent from the Vito E-Cell’s traction battery thus, it won’t restrict the Vito E-Cell range. The refrigeration van company put the battery’s service life at 3,000 charging cycles, or a lifespan of around 12 years.

As of now, there are already 4,000 Vito E-Cells being built in Vitoria plant in Spain, which may still increase depending on the demand of this new vehicle.
