Solid 2012 Figures for Mercedes-Benz Vans

Mercedes-Benz Vans had a good 2012. While the sales figures and revenues posted by the division was not quite equal to the 2011 numbers, last year was still good enough to be the third-best annual operating result. The 2012 sales were down 4% compared to 2011, with 252,400 units sold last year compared to 264,200 the year prior. As for revenue, it was at around $11.8 billion (€9,070 million), almost the same as 2011 revenue (€9,179 million). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) is pegged at €541 million, a 35-percent drop from 2011’s €835 million. Vans from Mercedes-Benz will soon feature five new safety and assistance systems that will further prove its position as an innovative van manufacturer. The company recently unveiled three of its latest safety systems including Blind Spot Assist, Collision Prevention Assist and Crosswind Assist. The Blind Spot Assist gives a warning to the driver if vehicles are close while he is going to change lanes. The Collision Prevention Assist warns the driver when the vehicle comes close to other vehicles moving on the road. The Crosswind Assist makes sure that the van is on course if winds become strong. The Mercedes-Benz Citan, Vito, and Sprinter recently showed that they can endure even the most extreme conditions recently. The Citan and the Vito were tested an Arctic Van Test that was held in Finland while the Sprinter drove through the North America until Alaska. 50 Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL Vans Ordered by Danish Postal Service

The largest order for the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL panel vans in Europe was just made by Post Danmark. A total of 50 units of the battery-powered electric vans will be delivered for the Danish postal service over the next few months. As perhaps the world’s best-selling van, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is truly in great demand. It’s used for a wide range of purposes and represents the automaker’s commitment to quality and reliability. That’s why it’s also important to have reliable partners when it comes to making Sprinter variants. Recently, Tuzia, Turkey-based minibus body manufacturer and Mercedes-Benz partner Arobus produced its 11,111th Sprinter, a testament to the successful partnership between the two entities. The partnership started 5 years ago, and the initial order was 250 units. Mercedes-Benz Citan Wins Van of the Year in Spain

Despite its relatively short time on the market, the new Mercedes-Benz Citan has been voted as the Van of the Year in Spain, via the Transporte3 magazine. The distinction was decided upon through a vote by 192-strong panel of Spain’s fleet specialists. This is part of the magazine’s annual awarding of the top commercial vehicles across different segments, including buses, trucks, and vans. In addition to the new Citan’s victory, this also happens to be the fourth Transporte3 award for Mercedes-Benz in the past three years. The past victories for the German automaker were courtesy of the Vito, Atego, and the Actros.
