Since starting production of the Sprinter Classic in September of 2013, the Mercedes-Benz Vans / GAZ plant in Nischni Nowgorod, Russia has now produced a total of 10,000 units of the company’s strong-performing multi-purpose van. The milestone comes off the heels of a record 6,600 units ssold in the country by Mercedes-Benz, cementing the Sprinter Classic’s status as the most popular Mercedes-Benz van in Russia and showing just how key the model line is for the company’s success in the country. Mercedes-Benz Vans Russia chief Soeren Haese cited each Sprinter Classic produced by the plant as a testament to the kind of quality the Mercedes-Benz brand represents. Daimler achieves record sales in Q1 2015

Daimler AG continues to roll, having achieved record sales, revenue, and EBIT during the first quarter of 2015, propelled of course by Mercedes-Benz Cars. This is thanks in large part to unit sales growing by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2014, contributing to a 16 percent growth in revenue to some €34 billion (around $37 billion). Mercedes-Benz Cars unit sales in Q1 grew 18 percent, with a nice round total of 459,700. In terms of unit sales, Q1 2015 now holds the record for best quarter in Mercedes history. Breaking down the figure, we see that the UK sales grew 17 percent, making it the main mover… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck Will Be Named the GLT

A Daimler executive revealed that the official model name of the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck will be the GLT. The information was provided by none other than the head of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division, Volker Mornhinweg, to Car Magazine. It should be noted that Mornhinweg is also the one at the helm of the three-pointed star brand’s pickup truck project. That explains why he was the one who unveiled the plans for the new product of Mercedes to the press and why he has been the one speaking about it a lot lately. The exec explained that the reason for the development of the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck was global market expansion. However, he told… Continue Reading »

UPS to upgrade to Mercedes-Benz Sprinter delivery vans

UPS will soon be adding the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to its fleet of delivery vans, an upgrade from the recently discontinued Mercedes-Benz Vario line of heavy commercial vans. To be more specific, UPS has ordered the new Sprinter 513 BlueTec model to replace the Vario. The 127 horsepower van is the result of development that was made together between Mercedes-Benz, UPS, and Spier the body manufacturer. This way, the parcel service gets a delivery van that can specifically fill its needs. First and foremost, this new Sprinter features a high loading capacity that’s perfect for delivery of packages handled by UPS on a daily basis. An enlarged passenger-side door should help the delivery guy load and unload packages faster…. Continue Reading »

What the Hell is This Mercedes-Benz Ad All About

The YouTube channel of Mercedes-Benz Vans uploaded a new ad for the Vito last October 2. The title of the video was “Dirty Driving”. If you think that the Mario Kart 8-themed ad of the Mercedes-Benz GLA was hideous enough, this ad would probably top it off in terms of weirdness. While I had so much respect and admiration to the marketing division of the three-pointed star brand for bringing up awesome ads, this is just another proof that they are only human and they can also have their epic-fail moments. First, this Mercedes-Benz ad is just overly nostalgic, having to feature an 80’s song from a movie hit that even most people at their… Continue Reading »

How Mercedes-Benz’s high-end status affects sales of Sprinter vans in the US

Mercedes-Benz is a well-known luxury brand, and while the established brand name–as well as all the other stuff that comes with it–works well for marketing its passenger vehicles, it could sometimes present a problem for other areas of the automaker’s business. Take the Sprinter van, for example. The Sprinter is one of the best-selling commercial vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, and it is seen as the go-to model for growing the commercial vehicles aspect of the company’s business in markets outside Germany and Europe. In the United States, though, sales are hampered by the brand’s high-end reputation. While Mercedes-Benz has been keen on introducing more affordable compact variants of its cars, like… Continue Reading »

Revenue also went up by 3 percent, from €9.07 billion ($12.5 billion) to €9.37 billion (around $12.92 billion). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) went up by 16 percent as well. A big factor was double-digit growth rates in key areas like China, Latin America, and Russia. Sales in China went up by 44 percent, with a… Continue Reading »
