Mercedes-Benz Partners Up with Michael Schumacher for Safety Development

Did you think Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher’s involvement with Mercedes-Benz ended when he retired from the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team following the 2012 season? Well, he’s still with the Silver Arrows. The German automaker and Schumacher just announced a long-term deal that will keep Schumacher very much involved in many aspects of the business, even beyond F1 and motorsport in general. Mercedes-Benz Posts Best Global Monthly Figures in March

Despite a comparatively rough start in the European market, Mercedes-Benz managed to post solid figures for the first quarter of 2013, culminating in a best-ever month in March, with a whopping 139,920 units sold around the world over that period. That figure represents a 6.5-percent increase over the same period last year, and Q1 sales figures are also up 3.5 percent year-on-year. Mercedes-Benz credits this to strong NAFTA region performance, as well as solid sales in Japan and Russia. For example, Mercedes-Benz USA posted record quarterly sales in Q1. “With strong gains in the USA and in many new growth markets, we were able to balance out weakening European markets… Continue Reading »

Garmin to Supply Future Mercedes-Benz Navigation Systems

Garmin, perhaps the leading name today when it comes to GPS technology, is set to supply Mercedes-Benz with the navigation systems to be used in its vehicles’ dashboards in the future. According to the Kansas-headquartered company, Garmin navigation devices are set to be integrated within the infotainment systems found in the German automaker’s cars. Since Garmin speaks of ‘seamless’ integration, it should be obvious that we won’t see a separate Garmin navigation interface. Instead, the navigation system might be integrated into the COMAND interface. That’s bound to be more beneficial for drivers and it should make the system much more accessible from a usability standpoint. This way, it should offer a… Continue Reading »

Sales were sparked by solid numbers in the United States, in Russia, and in Japan, although things would have been much better if it weren’t for declining figures in the Chinese market.
