Mercedes-AMG GT and Mercedes-AMG C 63 ready for launch

After being shown to the world at the recent Paris Motor Show, the latest Mercedes AMG offerings – the Mercedes-AMG C 63 and Mercedes-AMG GT – are now up for order, with pricing starting at €115,430 (somewhere around $146,000) for the GT and €76,100.501 (a shade over $96,200) for the C 63. In case you’ve noticed, the new models are also the first to feature the new naming convention for AMG high-performance variants. Mercedes-AMG C63 Unveiled in Paris

The originally thought Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG was finally unveiled in the Paris Motor Show. However, the car now sports a new name, which is Mercedes-AMG C63. It is the second car to adopt solely the “Mercedes-AMG” name—dropping the “Mercedes-Benz” moniker—following the GT sports coupe. As reported earlier, the car shares the same engine with the Mercedes-AMG GT. A 4.0-liter biturbo V8 replaces the outgoing Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG’s 6.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. The new Mercedes-AMG C63 features two engine options. The standard model has a downsized output of 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Rosberg, Mercedes Settle for Second Place at Belgian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo played the role of spoilsport, taking the title at the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, as Mercedes AMG Petronas and Nico Rosberg had to settle for a second-place finish despite taking the pole position in qualifying. Even worse, contact between the two Mercedes cars early in the race resulted in a puncture in Lewis Hamilton’s ride, and the Brit eventually had to retire in lap 38. Mercedes-AMG Exploring E-Turbo Engines

Audi recently revealed its RS5 TDI Concept. The next-generation Audi Q7 is hyped as the first production car to be equipped with the electric turbocharged engine. Not to be outdone, Mercedes-AMG seems to be considering on putting e-turbo engines on its future cars, in addition to its plan to incorporate several Formula One technologies to its upcoming road vehicles. Jochen Martin Schmid, the chief of the powertrain development division of AMG, confirmed through an interview with Drive that they are looking to investigate the benefits of e-turbo engines.
