Brace Yourself for a Louder Engine Noise From Mercedes F1

The introduction of the current engine regulations in Formula One definitely turned the tide of the sport. Mercedes-AMG Petronas was the team that heavily benefited from it due to the amazing engineering of their hybrid engines. It gave Mercedes the needed leverage to break the years of dominance set by Red Bull Racing, and it earned the team a back-to-back Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in 2014 and 2015. However, there was a major complaint from fans about the engine noise of Mercedes and other cars in F1 after the new rules came into play. From then on, Mercedes F1 came up with ways to integrate a better engine noise in… Continue Reading »

Mercedes says engines will be louder in 2016 F1 season

Because of revised F1 rules on exhausts, Mercedes AMG Petronas technical chief Paddy Lowe said that F1 cars are sure to be ‘significantly’ louder this upcoming 2016 season. Since the shift to the new power units, many fans and enthusiasts have complained that the sound you hear as an F1 car speeds by just isn’t the same anymore–and it’s not a very good change. The sound of an engine’s roar is part of any F1 race’s atmosphere, and the power units just aren’t providing the same kind of auditory oomph as engines of many seasons past. In a video via Mercedes, Paddy Lowe said that the changes in the regulations will… Continue Reading »

Is Nico Rosberg Getting a Contract Extension?

Nico Rosberg’s contract will only cover up to the 2016 Formula One season. When Speed Week asked whether the driver will get an extension with the team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas boss Toto Wolff said they won’t negotiate with him until summer. Rosberg has consistently trailed Lewis Hamilton in F1 Drivers’ Rankings since 2014. From that period until the season that just ended, he bagged the second position in the standings. His performance with his partner was instrumental in bringing their team a back-t0-back Constructors’ Championship in the sport too. However, Rosberg’s intense rivalry with Hamilton on the tracks led to Wolff warning them about a possible change in the team’s drivers lineup. It should be noted… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Museum Adds the Championship Cars of Hamilton and Wehrlein

The Mercedes-Benz Museum just added two vehicles in its collection. The new arrivals were the race cars of Lewis Hamilton from the 2014 Formula One season and the one used by Pascal Wehrlein in the current DTM season. These were the ones used by the two celebrated drivers en route to winning the Drivers’ World Championships in their respective sporting organizations. For the 2014 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W05 Hybrid and its successor, the cars were instrumental in giving the Mercedes F1 team the Constructors’ Championship on two occasions. The race cars brought Hamilton back-to-back world titles from 2014 to 2015 as well. On the other hand, the gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM was the winning formula of Wehrlein this year, which made… Continue Reading »

F1: Rosberg takes pole, Lewis in P2 for Abu Dhabi GP

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the final race of the 2015 Formula One season, and Mercedes was true to form in qualifying. Nico Rosberg grabbed pole position ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton, giving the team a season record 15th front-row lockout. There’s really nothing left to play for for these two Mercedes drivers. The team clinched the constructors title in what seems like ages ago, and it’s been a few races since Hamilton was crowned 2015 champion. What’s left to see is if the team can surpass last season’s points tally — something that can only be done with a 1-2 finish at the race. The pole is Rosberg’s seventh of the… Continue Reading »

F1: Rosberg wins 2015 Mexican GP; Mercedes gets 10th 1-2 finish of season

There may have been no point to the race, with the titles all decided already, but Nico Rosberg brought his A game nonetheless. The Mercedes F1 driver took home the trophy in the first Mexican Grand Prix in 23 years, winning the race from pole position while topping teammate and recently crowned Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton. The win gives the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team its tenth 1-2 finish of the season. It is Rosberg’s fourth victory this season and 12th in his career, and he also set the fastest lap during the race. More importantly, Rosberg manages to get back second place from Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel–who was unable to finish the race… Continue Reading »
