Coming off from a Formula One World Championship win last season as well as a fresh and perfect victory in Australian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton promised everyone that he will set another record in the sport with his Mercedes Silver Arrow. According to Daily Mail, one of the targets in Hamilton’s sights is breaking the record his team set last year when it comes to number of victories in a season. It should be noted that F1 team Mercedes-AMG Petronas won 16 out of the 19 races in 2014. So far, that’s the highest number of wins in a season, surpassing the previous 15 victories set by McLaren in 1988 together with Ferrari… Continue Reading »

Formula One Speed Trap Records in Jerez Showed Mercedes was the Fastest

Ferrari stole the show last week during the Formula One testing in Jerez. Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel grabbed headlines for logging the quickest finish in three of the four days of tests in Spain. Another Ferrari-powered car driven by Sauber’s Felipe Nasr also recorded the fastest time on one of the mentioned days. So, will this signal the end of the dominance of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, and bring back Ferrari to its former glory? Not likely. Ferrari might have gained significant improvements in its power unit this season, but teams with Mercedes engines remain as forces to be reckoned with. This is particularly true with the 2014 Constructors’ Champion. According… Continue Reading »

Mercedes to unveil 2015 F1 car on February 1; could come with 2015-spec F1 power unit after all

While there has been speculation that Mercedes could simply use the superbly designed 2014 power unit for the first few races of the 2015 season and just upgrade it through the course of the season given the new rulings handed out by the FIA on engine development, new reports have surfaced that say those rumors are not true and that Mercedes is already hard at work to bring a fresh power unit by the first test at Jerez on February 1. The Jerez test will also be an opportunity to showcase the new car for 2015, the F1 W06 Hybrid. We will be seeing Nico Rosberg at the wheel on the… Continue Reading »
