A Closer Look at MBUSA’s “Driven to Delight” Strategy

At present, only a few companies compare to Mercedes-Benz when it comes to innovation, marketing genius, and overall brand strength. However, in 2011, prospective Mercedes-Benz buyers and vehicle owners were all too frequently having dealership experiences that were in need of an overhaul! Most world-class customer experience brands (Zappos, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Starbucks, etc.) started with service excellence at their core.  On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz was built on exceptional products. In the United States during the said year, there was a shift in priorities by a new leadership team. These leaders set a course to not only be the best customer experience provider in the automotive sector but… Continue Reading »

Leveraging off of breakthroughs in telematics (an interdisciplinary field that includes telecommunications, road safety, electrical engineering, and computer science), Mercedes-Benz vehicles allow for communication beyond a simple “mayday” or emergency response button, including a suite of products that delivers true concierge service. While some Mercedes-Benz vehicles were equipped with mbrace technology (safety, security, and travel assistance) as far back as 2009, upgrades were introduced in model year 2013 to deploy a new generation of technology and ensure that every Mercedes-Benz vehicle would have mbrace as a complimentary feature for the first six months of ownership. Providing Customers a Sense of Security In its most basic form, mbrace provides customers with… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz USA Names Webster New smart GM on Top of Other Moves

Mercedes-Benz USA has just named previous pre-owned and fleet ops general manager Mark Webster as the new overall smart GM, replacing Tracey Matura, who then moves on to Chicago to become the GM for the central region. The shuffling becomes official on May 1. “Leveraging talent is a great way to drive a company’s corporate culture,” said MBUSA president and CEO Steve Cannon. He added that he expects “fresh perspectives” and skill sets to help the company sustain the  momentum it’s enjoying right now. There’s a domino effect, of course. Apart from the moves involving Webster and Matura, Kurt Cornell moves into the position vacated by Webster. In addition, previous… Continue Reading »
