Everyone’s excited for the Detroit Auto Show, one of the largest motor trade show in the world, mainly because lots of people are car fans. Selection Of New MBUSA Head Down To a Handful

As easily as the former head of Mercedes-Benz’s US head was removed, his replacement hasn’t been announced yet. Not that there aren’t qualified candidates who can’t fill that position. However, despite former CEO Lieb’s transgressions, the fact is that Mercedes-Benz USA performed reasonably well under his stewardship. And apparently, he was well regarded and appreciated by the dealer network. But now, the final candidates have reportedly been narrowed down to five serious contenders who have top-level responsibilities in countries as diverse as China, Canada, Turkey, England and Australia. Mercedes To Appoint New US Head In The Coming Days

On the heels of its dismissal of the former head of its US operations, Mercedes has announced that it will be appointing Ernst Lieb’s replacement in the coming days. Aside from this short announcement, not much else has been released by the company regarding the surprising turn of events. There is also no word on whether the replacement CEO will come from the company’s headquarters in Germany. Given the importance of U.S. operations, all options are open, including selecting Mr. Lieb’s successor from the ranks of MBUSA personnel. MBUSA August Sales Are Up by 5.4%

Mercedes-Benz USA reported on September 1 that they sold a total of 20,728 units for the month of August. That’s a 5.4% increase from sales last year, same month. This also sets a record of being the highest August sales since 2007. E-Class and C-Class models leads the herd as the highest performers with the E-Class selling 5,628 and C-Class 4,728. Taking the third spot is the Mercedes-Benz M-Class with 2,191. The SLK roadster, not be left behind, sold 138.6% more than last year’s and the 2012 CLS class has been popular as well with an increase of 810.7%. Mercedes-Benz July Figure Increased to 16.7%

With the 9th generation E-Class leading the pack of the highest number of vehicle sold for July, the whole Mercedes-Benz line increased its number by 167% since the same time last year. This increase in sales is the highest since July 2006. The highest performer, E-Class’ sales amounted to 5,114, followed by the C-Class which sold a total of 4,554 vehicles. Meanwhile, the M-Class SUV took the third spot with sales of 2,778 which is a 40.8% increase in comparison with the sales from July last year. Additionally, the smart brand sold a total of 327 units. Mercedes US Plant’s $2B Expansion in the Works

Mercedes-Benz’ parent company, Daimler, said that it plans on upgrading and retooling the US plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama by investing $2 billion. This is in an effort to start production of the 2014 C-Class  and the R- and GL-Class. This statement was made in the middle of a head-to-head battle with BMW for the number one spot in the US’ luxury car segment. Three Record-Breaking Sales Figures Achieved by Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz recently announced that the company has set three sales records. The first one, June 2011 being the highest June ever with a total of 120,510 vehicles sold globally. For Mercedes-Benz USA alone, the company delivered 22,653 cars, their highest in June as well. The second record, is the highest sales for the quarter as April and May were also great months. The quarter recorded an increase of 7.2% or a total of 329,979 cars.
