F1: Hamilton holds off Vettel to win Canadian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton prevailed for the second straight race, taking a relatively hard-fought victory at the 2016 Canadian Grand Prix after fending off the vastly improved Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel. Vettel took the lead with a great start to the race from P3. He went past the two Mercedes, who had a bit of contact exiting turn 1, with Nico Rosberg forced to go to the grass and Hamilton aggressively defending the inside. Hamilton said he thought the start would be ‘a breeze’ after a perfect practice start. “But when it came around for real it felt like I was going nowhere, so I need to figure out what happened there,” Hamilton said. “I… Continue Reading »

F1: Hamilton finally wins one in Monaco

Lewis Hamilton finally managed to win a race in the 2016 Formula One season, with a solid victory ahead of Daniel Ricciardo at the Monaco Grand Prix. This was an exceptionally important outing for Hamilton after his fateful crash with teammate Nico Rosberg at the opening lap of the previous race. Hamilton was able to hold on to the first spot thanks in part to a pit stop blunder by Red Bull in lap 33, with the pit crew apparently not ready to receive Ricciardo and thus costing the driver a considerable amount of time. The other Mercedes car of Nico Rosberg, who was earlier ordered to let Hamilton pass through, could… Continue Reading »

Mercedes F1 Drivers Not Punished by Stewards After Spanish GP Incident

Tension escalated quickly at the 2016 Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. Just four turns from the starting line, the Silver Arrows of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collided with each other, which led to their early elimination from the race. Despite the straight faces of the drivers following the event, there was another turbulence evidently brewing within the Mercedes F1 team. Opinions were divided after reviewing clips of the incident. Most blamed Hamilton for the unfortunate outcome while some said it was a result of Rosberg’s over aggressiveness. Reports earlier claimed Hamilton will likely get reprimanded by the stewards. If found at fault over the incident, he might get a 10-place… Continue Reading »

Mercedes F1 Investigates the Spanish GP Incident

It could have been another dominant win for Mercedes AMG Petronas team in 2016 Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. The qualifying provided both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg a good start by landing on the first and second positions of the grid, respectively. However, hopes for another dominant win for the team were quashed when its drivers collided with each other just minutes after the race began. The unfortunate event happened when Rosberg got past Hamilton on the first bend. Moments later, the reigning F1 champion tried overtaking his teammate from the inside. Rosberg tried blocking the move resulting to Hamilton hitting the grass. However, the Silver Arrow of the… Continue Reading »

Then, the proverbial sh-t hit the fan on the lead-up to turn 4. Check out the crash below; the carnage starts at around the 22-second mark of the video. What Lewis Hamilton has to do to win the Spanish Grand Prix

So far in 2016, Lewis Hamilton has not had much luck. The defending Formula One drivers champion hasn’t won a race in four tries, struggling with reliability issues on his F1 W07 Hybrid multiple times. In the free practices leading up to qualifying, the car issues continued until the team decided to go with a setup that’s closer to Nico Rosberg’s–and guess what, Hamilton took pole position (the 52nd of his career and third this season) to start the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix ahead of the pack. Now, what does the Brit have to do to win the race? Get a good start “If you want to change things pole is… Continue Reading »

Mechanics Swap in Mercedes F1 is Not an Issue

Nico Rosberg is on fire. He’s been unrelenting in the first four races of the 2016 season. Some analysts claimed that his advantage may have come from swapping mechanics with the reigning Formula One Drivers’ World Champion Lewis Hamilton. However, an expert does not agree with such analysis. Dominic Harlow, a former Williams senior operations engineer, commented on the matter in an interview featured at Sky Sports F1 page earlier. He said that the swapping of the five personnel of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team between the garage of Rosberg and Hamilton posed no significant impact in terms of car performance. Harlow explained that the performance change would only happen… Continue Reading »
