F1: Rosberg tops qualifying at European Grand Prix; Hamilton to start in P10

Nico Rosberg should be feeling a bit better now. The points leader so far in the 2016 Formula One season has had his lead slashed from 43 down to just nine, but he will get a boost at the European Grand Prix after qualifying in pole position. What’s more, his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton ran into problems and hit a wall in Q3, resulting in a red flag for the session and a P10 start for Hamilton. This was after Hamilton made light of the difficulties that drivers were pointing out about the new street circuit in Baku. He had the right to up until FP3, though, posting dominating times. But… Continue Reading »

Vettel took the lead with a great start to the race from P3. He went past the two Mercedes, who had a bit of contact exiting turn 1, with Nico Rosberg forced to go to the grass and Hamilton aggressively defending the inside. Hamilton said he thought the start would be ‘a breeze’ after a perfect practice start. “But when it came around for real it felt like I was going nowhere, so I need to figure out what happened there,” Hamilton said. “I… Continue Reading »

F1: Hamilton finally wins one in Monaco

Lewis Hamilton finally managed to win a race in the 2016 Formula One season, with a solid victory ahead of Daniel Ricciardo at the Monaco Grand Prix. This was an exceptionally important outing for Hamilton after his fateful crash with teammate Nico Rosberg at the opening lap of the previous race. Hamilton was able to hold on to the first spot thanks in part to a pit stop blunder by Red Bull in lap 33, with the pit crew apparently not ready to receive Ricciardo and thus costing the driver a considerable amount of time. The other Mercedes car of Nico Rosberg, who was earlier ordered to let Hamilton pass through, could… Continue Reading »

Mercedes F1 Drivers Not Punished by Stewards After Spanish GP Incident

Tension escalated quickly at the 2016 Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. Just four turns from the starting line, the Silver Arrows of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collided with each other, which led to their early elimination from the race. Despite the straight faces of the drivers following the event, there was another turbulence evidently brewing within the Mercedes F1 team. Opinions were divided after reviewing clips of the incident. Most blamed Hamilton for the unfortunate outcome while some said it was a result of Rosberg’s over aggressiveness. Reports earlier claimed Hamilton will likely get reprimanded by the stewards. If found at fault over the incident, he might get a 10-place… Continue Reading »
