Daimler Trucks Growing its Business in Asia and Africa Through MFTBC and DICV

In order to get stronger results from its commercial vehicles division, Daimler has been working hard to establish itself in new growth markets, particularly in Asia and Africa. Key here is Daimler Trucks’ “Asia Business Model” that allows it to gain traction through ‘stronger bundling and optimization’ of operations within the region. Important facilities within the region are major contributors to the division’s growth. Among these facilities are the Kawasaki, Japan-based Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), as well as the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) facility in Chennai, India. Daimler Trucks has a 2015 target of 500,000 units sold for that year, and a loftier 2020 target of… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Posts Anime Vid To Introduce A-Class

As the saying goes, “When in Rome…”, well, you know the rest. Following the weird and wonderful culture that is Japan, Mercedes-Benz has posted an anime video to introduce the A-Class. Unlike Western countries where cartoons and comics are for tots, manga and anime aficionados in Japan span generations. So, it’s actually an inspired choice for Mercedes-Benz to use an anime video to introduce their compact car. Japan is a country where Kei cars are a common sight, so the A-Class isn’t actually that small for the Japanese. If sales in other regions are any indication, the A-Class will also be a hit in Japan, and we look forward to… Continue Reading »

Korean traders under wraps for illegal export of Mercedes-Benz

As if being arrested for supporting North Korea’s bid for world domination thru the exportation of harmless ceramic tiles enroute to Kim-JOng iL’s beloved country wasn’t crazy enough, a group of Korean traders in Tokyo, Japan were served a fresh plate of arrest warrants for another mischievous act – shipping out secondhand Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Now, as avid fans of the brand, it is not part of our intentions to deprive our NoKon brothers of their God-given right to enjoy the fruits of German engineering. The only problem is, the Japanese government seems to be against the idea of senior NoKon officials getting command of the said fleet of exported vehicles…. Continue Reading »

Chocofied Smart Fortwo is Japan’s Idea of Best Valentine’s Day Gift Ever

Valentine’s Day, February 14, in Japan is all about girls giving the boys chocolate, and this is then reciprocated when White Day is celebrated on March 14. Still, which would you rather have as a V-Day gift—chocolates or a car? You don’t have to answer that. Q-Pot, a Japanese luxury jeweler and chocolatier just combined the two for your convenience. Of course, it just isn’t possible (yet) to build a car out of real chocolate. What designer Tadaaki Wakamatsu did, however, was build a Smart Fortwo that looks like it really was made out of chocolate. The main design elements are the color combinations. You get gold sections that act… Continue Reading »
