Patent Images Of Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-In Hybrid Emerge

Two months have passed ever since the luxury car manufacturer from Germany reluctantly confirmed the upcoming release of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-In Hybrid. Reports about the same plug-in vehicle, which is the first for the company, have emerged once again. A number of patent images showed that the upcoming vehicle will have a new exhaust system while its rear bumper was designed to feature its charging port. The upcoming vehicle will reportedly be dubbed as the Mercedes-Benz S500 Hybrid Plus. It will be the flagship plug-in vehicle of the Germany vehicle manufacturer. Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid Given EBUS Award

In Cologne, Mercedes-Benz  Market Launch Manager for Mercedes-Benz hybrid and electric buses  Ulrich Piotrowski, together with Mercedes-Benz buses brand spokesman Roman Biondi, accepted the first-ever EBUS award for the company’s fuel cell Citaro hybrid buses. Hybrid Transport Makes Inroads In Munster

Hybrid vehicles make it to the mainstream news on a regular basis these days, touting their green advantages and all that. Normally, hybrids are associated with frugal daily drivers, although hybrid sports cars seem to be in our immediate future too. Now, a municipal transport operator in Munster, Germany has begun running a pair of hybrid buses supplied by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Awarded A+ Efficiency Rating, Environmental Certificate

The Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID has just been awarded a Class A+ energy efficiency rating along with an Environmental Certificate after going through the TUV Sud Life Cycle Assessment. The vehicle passed the tests conducted by the independent inspection body. It has been projected that the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID produces 23 percent less CO2 emissions compared to an E 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. Mercedes Launches E300 BlueTEC HYBRID

In Stuttgart, Mercedes recently announced its new E300 BlueTEC HYBRID. This diesel hybrid boasts of a fuel consumption of only 4.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Efficiency without compromise, such is Mercedes’ mantra for its automobiles, and the E300 BlueTEC HYBRID is no exception. In the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, Mercedes-Benz has combined the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine developing 204 hp with a powerful hybrid module. Its 15 kW electric motor, positioned between the internal combustion engine and the 7-speed automatic transmission, assists the diesel engine when the car is accelerating to provide additional boost in power and in alternator mode, is used for the recuperation of braking energy…. Mercedes-Benz to build Hybrid R&D center in Michigan

Earlier this week, Mercedes-Benz has reported that they will be expanding their hybrid technologies by building an R&D center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The focus of the operation, called The Mercedes-Benz Engineering Center for Powertrains USA, will be developing hybrid transmissions, electric motor technology, software, and power electronics. Mercedes-Benz is looking at a 65,000 square-foot facility, which should house the R&D center and employ 223 new workers in the coming 10 years. It’s an investment worth nearly $10 million. California and South Carolina were also considered for the R&D center, but it seems Michigan gave them the best tax break, nearly $7.5 million over the next ten years.

Mercedes-Benz working on a SLK Gullwing?

Is Mercedes-Benz prepping a new low-end Gullwing? Well according to AutoExpress, Mercedes has plans to bring a new SLK Gullwing to the masses, which may look very similar to its bigger brother, the SLC Gullwing. Besides having some amazing gullwing doors, and draw inspiration from the legendary 300SL, it is also supposed to be hybrid. With some very muscular lines, it will be a big change compared to the current SLK (which women love to drive).
