GLK Advertising: 180° from expected

During the run-up to the model’s market launch in October 2008, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its comprehensive marketing campaign for the GLK-Class to include print advertisements and television commercials. “Our print campaign and the TV spot focus on the typical characteristics of the GLK — the striking form and surprisingly different design,” says Dr. Olaf Gà¶ttgens, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “With the GLK we are providing a new opportunity for customers to enter the SUV world of our brand. And for the launch of this vehicle we have used every communication channel in order to come into direct dialogue with our customers and, in particular, young target groups.”

Mercedes-Benz presents the GLK-Class Selection

The market launch and showroom debut for new GLK-Class is scheduled to be in January of 2009, so Mercedes has decided to also launch the GLK-Class Selection, which is a range of products whose distinctive design, high-quality, robust materials that underline the versatile personality of the compact Sports Utility Vehicle. The specially selected range includes casual leisurewear for the fashion-conscious, attractive accessories for outdoor activities and elegant items for shopping excursions to the city. RENNtech tunes the Mercedes GLK for SEMA

In preparation for the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Mercedes may have contracted RENNtech for some “fine” tuning of their new GLK model. We are still not sure what exactly they will do to the GLK, but according to Modified Luxury & Exotics, it will be a Pikes Peak inspired GLK. This will be RENNtech’s first ever performance modified hybrid powertrain. While Mercedes has not officially confirmed their interest to be at the SEMA show, the fact that they have not only contracted RENNtech, but also Brabus, Blvd Customs and Legendary Motorcars to build a GLK for the show might be a hint at what is to come. New Mercedes-Benz GLK Posts Impressive Numbers of Pre-Orders

The new Mercedes-Benz compact SUV has been met with an outstanding response from customers in the first month after the vehicle was released for sale on June 30, 2008. In Western Europe alone, Mercedes-Benz has already received a total of 10,000 orders for a GLK-Class vehicle by the end of July. Deliveries of the GLK, which celebrated its world premiere at the Auto China show in Beijing at the end of April, are scheduled to commence in Western Europe in October, with market launch in the U.S. set to follow at the beginning of 2009.

iPhone pouch at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

The GLK served as a source of inspiration for the exclusive iPhone pouch, a limited-edition item created specially for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The cut-out transparent GLK lettering has been lavishly trimmed with crystallized Swarovski Elements. The effect is eye-catching: when the iPhone display is activated, the refraction of light through the fine-cut crystals ensures that the GLK lettering shimmers in an attractive play of colours. The inside of the GLK iPhone pouch is lined with a special magenta-coloured fabric.

Mercedes-Benz unveils new GLK micro-site

Just yesterday, we reported on the MBUSA.com website redesign, and today we will highlight the GLK micro-site that has gone live. It’s has become very popular for car manufacturers to create websites or micro-sites for new vehicles. The GLK is no exception, but the way they have created it is quite interesting. The one thing, besides the beautiful design, is the way they are using the vehicles color to highlight various aspects of the vehicle.
