Daimler Plans to Reorganize Plant Operations

Following a very busy September 9 unveiling event for the Mercedes-AMG GT, Daimler revealed its plan to revamp the production of its factories in Germany and reorganize its global manufacturing networks. According to Wall Street Journal, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz is planning to invest a total of more than €3 billion (equivalent to $3.9 billion) for the mentioned purposes. The spokesperson of the German marque stated on Wednesday that individual plants and their managers are being pressured with the challenges posed by the growing number of models offered by the Mercedes-Benz brand, increasing volume, and unprecedented complexities. Kicherer Gives the Mercedes SLS AMG a Mean Facelift

Mercedes Sales Spike in the Asian Market

Mercedes-Benz sales were looking great in the first half of 2014. According to Wall Street Journal, the sales of the brand in the early six months of the year spiked up to 13 percent worldwide. The success was attributed to the strong demand in China and other emerging markets in Asia for luxury cars. WSJ said Mercedes sales numbered 783,520 units in that period. Daimler May Stop Making EV Batteries

In 2008, Daimler AG announced a joint venture with Evonik to produce Li-Tec batteries for electric vehicles.
