Having the chance to work with prestigious car manufacturers, like Mercedes-Benz, has its perks. And of the greatest benefits of such partnerships is clinching the biggest deal ever made by your company in its entire history. And that is exactly the case with Michigan-based TI Automotive, which specializes in fuel delivery and fuel containment systems. Effective immediately, TI Automotive is to be the global supplier of high-quality fuel tank systems for Mercedes-Benz’s large-volume models.

The contract entails the company to supply Mercedes-Benz with 7 types of plastic fuel tanks, fuel filler pipes and fuel lines from locations all around the globe, whichever is closest to Mercedes-Benz’s multiple global offices. These would include not only the manufacturing plants in Europe, namely Germany, but on other continents as well.

Of course, on such a global business scale, TI Automotive has to comply with different quality and emissions standards, including Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV), Low-Emissions Vehicle III (LEV III) and Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) covering gasoline, diesel, hybrid and flex-fuel applications.

Mercedes-Benz chose TI Automotive for the company’s reputation for setting high quality standards for plastic fuel tank and emissions technology. They won the 2009 Automotive News PACE Award with their Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) plastic fuel tank. The manufacturing process involves putting in place all internal components into the fuel tank before actual molding begins. Their method ensures zero fuel vapor emissions for outstanding performance and durability.
