The Mercedes-Benz Unimog is certainly a one tough piece of a ride. It can transport heavy pieces of equipment, it is maneuverable despite its size, plus it can withstand rough environments and terrains. It should be noted that it can cross a body of water up to a meter deep too.

These are just a few among the many reasons why it was chosen to star in the movie Jurassic World to help the heroes keep the dinosaurs in check. Well, if there was some sort of end of the world scenarios going on, whether it is a zombie apocalypse or treading a Mad Max-type wasteland, as long as its not a San Andreas movie kind of disaster, this is the thing you should look for.

Recently, the Product Design & Development website featured one of these ultimate off-roaders, which can be seen in the pictures here. This particular Mercedes-Benz Unimog (U 5023 model), was fitted with a couple of enhancements that include what looks like an excavator in the middle. The source also said it could accommodate a three cubic-meter automatic road gritter.

The purpose of the modifications were to enable the truck to be used in public services such as road maintenance, assisting in work depots, and aiding towns that are prone to flooding.

Due to the potentials of this vehicle, especially in helping the public, it will be presented with a silver medal for outstanding innovations and advancements at the Demopark Municipal Technology Trade Fair in Eisenach, which will be held on June 21 to 23 this year.
