New York 2010: The new E350 4Matic Wagon

It was somewhat of a surprise for the US market to finally get the 2011 E350 4Matic wagon, as it was previously announced by Mercedes that the said model will not be available in the states. The E350 Estate made its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year.

The addition of the E-Class Estate has completed the mid size line up for Mercedes-Benz in the US today. Both the sedan and coupe share the same styling as the wagon except for that wagon rear end. Another surprise is the re-introduction of the pop out jump seats from the cargo area floor. The throwback or way back jump seats are not new in the mid sized Merc. It was also available in the W123 estates of the late 70s and early 80s.

It is confirmed that Mercedes will only sell the E350 4Matic wagon for now. The last E-Class wagon AMG was offered as a special order model, so maybe that will be the case here as well

Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class create a new dimension of efficiency

At the Geneva Motor Show in March Mercedes-Benz will be presenting two new models which will be a great leap forward with regard to consumption and CO2 emissions. The new C 220 CDI now consumes a mere 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers – that’s 0.3 of a liter less than previously. This cuts its CO2 output from 127 g/km to 119 g/km.

The E 250 CDI with an automatic transmission will require just 4.9 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (129 g/km CO2) in future – as opposed to 5.8 liters currently (154 g/km CO2 – all provisional, combined figures). The high performance that characterizes the four-cylinder diesel engines – and with it the driving pleasure that they generate – will remain undiminished for both models. This puts Mercedes-Benz in a new dimension of efficiency in these segments. And the new C-Class and E-Class models serve as shining examples of the fact that the combustion engine still offers vast potential – which Mercedes-Benz will be harnessing in a targeted manner for its other models, too.

Under the new label MercedesSport, Mercedes-Benz is presenting a portfolio of elegant and sporty individualisation products for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. This MercedesSport portfolio includes specially designed light-alloy wheels, a sports suspension and mounted aerodynamic and styling components.

All MercedesSport products were developed by Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH in collaboration with the same designers and engineers who were responsible for the standard production models. As a result, everything appears to have been cast from a single mold. MercedesSport is initially available for the E-Class Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Cabriolet.
