Daimler Denies Aston Martin Takeover

Rumors have been circulating recently in the online community about Daimler’s alleged plan to acquire Aston Martin. So far, they have been traced back to Dr. Dieter Zetche’s rather vague statements about the supercar brand in his past interviews. Recently, Motor Authority killed the rumors concerning the buyout saying that Zetche’s statements were just taken out of context. Citing the Daimler boss’ interview with High Gear Media during the previous Detroit Auto Show, the source said that a takeover is out of the equation for the parent company of Mercedes-Benz. The report simply pointed out what we have mentioned last February about the Daimler and Aston Martin partnership wherein the… Continue Reading »

Aston Martin will not be Carrying Mercedes or AMG Badges says Zetsche

Last December, we reported details about the partnership forged by Daimler and  Aston Martin. In their deal, Aston Martin will be benefiting from the V8 engines developed by the Mercedes-AMG group. One particular model of the British supercar brand which was heavily rumored to get the first taste of AMG’s high performance V8 engines is the 2016 Aston Martin Vanquish. Then, all succeeding models will follow. On the other hand, the agreement allowed Daimler to have non-voting shares within Aston Martin. In a recent report from Autocar, an interview with Dieter Zetsche revealed that the Aston Martin engines that they will be supplying will not be carrying any badges that… Continue Reading »

Zetsche Not Yet Ready to Give Bernhard the Key to Mercedes Management

A report by Reuters said that Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is not yet ready to give up the reigns to Wolfgang Bernhard. Right now, Zetsche heads Daimler and Mercedes-Benz and investors are waiting for him to hand over the keys to the management of the company. It doesn’t look like it’s happening soon, even if his contract runs out by the end of 2013. According to the report, Zetsche still thinks that he is quite effective in managing the car company, yet experts disagree on that.
