Mercedes-Benz Recalls 705,000 Units Due to Airbag Issues

Mercedes-Benz recalls some of its vehicles in the United States for air bag issues. According to NBC, around 705,000 units were affected by the recall. Based on the source, the vehicles covered by the move were equipped with air bags manufactured by Takata Corp. The problem with the said air bags is that they have the tendency to explode with deadly force. The Takata airbags have the risk of overinflating, which can shoot shrapnels to the passenger area when it pops out. Driverless Mercedes-Benz E-Class Given Permit To Be Tested In Nevada

Nevada lawmakers granted the Mercedes-Benz E-Class a test license for autonomous driving on public roads under normal traffic conditions, as shown on a report from The license essentially makes the E-Class as the first standard-production vehicle to run tests in the Nevada. However, it will be necessary to equip autonomous vehicles with specialized software and hardware, including specially-designed sensors, an adapted ESP and modified steering wheel, to allow them to be tested. Mercedes-Benz Reflects Two-Digit Growth in 2015

Daimler AG reported another successful year in 2015. According to the Global Media Site of the company, Mercedes-Benz recorded an overall 1,871,511 vehicles sold worldwide in the year that just ended. The figure translates to an increase of 13.4%, which marks the brand’s fifth consecutive record year. Mercedes also ended the year strong with 178,017 units sold in December. It’s a 9.1% growth based on a year-on-year comparison. In addition, the last quarter of the said year is highest in the three-pointed star marque’s 2015 record books with 495,159 units sold, which displays a rise of 8.8% compared to the same quarter of its previous year. Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is set to step down at the end of next year and he expressed his preference for a woman to replace him in the German luxury vehicle manufacturer, as shown on a report from The 62-year-old executive made the revelation in an interview with Bunte, a German magazine whose main market are females.
