BAIC Debuts a Mercedes-Benz G-Class Rip-Off

Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd., known simply as BAIC, launched a new ride at the recently-held Shanghai Auto Show. The Chinese automaker called it the BAIC BJ80C. Now, what is this doing on a Mercedes-Benz blog site? Well, as seen in the photo above and in the gallery below, the designers of the product almost entirely copied the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It will not take a second glance to arrive at the generalization that the BAIC BJ80C is the Chinese clone of the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck Will Be Named the GLT

A Daimler executive revealed that the official model name of the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck will be the GLT. The information was provided by none other than the head of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division, Volker Mornhinweg, to Car Magazine. Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Production Starts in Tuscaloosa Plant

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe recently had its production launch at the Tuscaloosa Plant. According to Carscoops, Daimler has allotted $4.5 billion from its budget to be utilized in the said plant for the production of the entire standard GLE lineup, plus its coupe version. The amount also covers the manufacture of the C-Class sedan and GL-Class. In addition, the plant would be responsible for the soon-to-be-unveiled GLC-Class, new C-Class variants like its coupe and convertible models, as well as the GLS-Class, based on a report by Motor Authority. New Mercedes Recall Affects 149,000 Cars in China and Germany

A new Mercedes recall was set in motion once more. Last Monday, Daimler released a statement about a new recall involving its Mercedes-Benz cars. According to the company, around 149,000 vehicles under the three-pointed star brand will be affected. Among the models covered by the decision were the E-Class and CLS-CLass built within 2012 up to 2014. Then, the areas affected are China and Germany. Mercedes-Benz and Smart Start the Year with High Sales

Daimler AG, through its Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, started 2015 on a high note. The group displayed impressive sales this January compared to the same month of the previous year. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the two brands showed a double-digit increase in January sales on a year-on-year comparison.
