According to the people within Daimler, board member Andreas Renschler is considered as a possible CEO candidate of Daimler to succeed Dr. Dieter Zetsche when his contract ends on 2016. Daimler Group Posts Better-than-expected Q2 EBIT

The Daimler Group, which owns Mercedes-Benz Cars, posted Q2 2013 EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) better than its internal forecasts, indicating solid earnings in the quarter and that things are proceeding in line with the group’s projections for its 2013 EBIT. All in all, the Group posted €29.7 billion (around $38.79 billion) in revenue, which leads to Group EBIT of €5.2 billion (around $6.79 billion). Much of that revenue is accounted for by Mercedes-Benz Cars, with €16.3 billion. Daimler Trucks comes in at €8 billion, while Mercedes-Benz Vans’ total is at €2.4 billion. Daimler Board member in charge of Trucks and Buses, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, has just been elected as the chairman of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA)’s Commercial Vehicle Board. According to Dr. Bernhard, the success and sustainability of commercial vehicle manufacturers depends on their ability to “jointly articulate and address our industry’s developments, progress, and demands, and make them known to political decision-makers.” That was part of the statement he gave at the last board meeting. Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Reaches 2-Million-Unit Milestone for Commercial Vehicle Production

Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has just completed its two-millionth locally-made commercial vehicle, a milestone achieved in 57 years. That figure is comprised of some 1.4 million trucks along with 600,000 buses and chassis. According to Mercedes-Benz Trucks Europe and Latin America chief Stefan Buchner, Daimler Trucks’ operations in Brazil started “way before the country was considered an up-and-coming economy.” He added that Brazil is currently among the brand’s vital truck markets. Daimler Trucks is making a big splash on the big screen in 2014, as Transformers 4, which features robots who transform into different things from cars to jets, will see Autobot leader Optimus Prime having a new truck mode. Based on a revealed image, Optimus Prime will now be a truck model built by Western Star, which is a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America.
