The Formula One team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas truly stood out in the sporting community in the season that just ended after handing rivals a crushing defeat and dominating majority of the races all year. The team not only became a Constructors’ Champion but its driver Lewis Hamilton also won the World Championship. It should be noted that Nico Rosberg trailed just behind his partner in the overall drivers’ rankings and would have put on quite a show in the last race if it weren’t for mechanical issues. Listen to the Sound of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

The spy video above shows the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG making its usual rounds at the Nurburgring track. Sure, the car displayed power almost the same, or even probably more than the Mercedes-AMG GT, based on several sources. However, the noise expected from the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine seemed to be lacking. One of AMG’s signature is the extra exhaust noise it provides to any Mercedes-Benz its tuners get their hands on. That is something that every buyer and fan of the performance division of Daimler expect. AMG seemed to blow that character off in the upcoming C63 though. Critics and even the author of this article find the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG too quiet for something with a V8… Continue Reading »

Will the Mercedes SLA Sports Car Ever Reach Production

The Mercedes Vision SLA was a concept car that was showcased at the 2000 Detroit International Auto Show. The two-seater convertible was based on the platform of the A-Class segment during that period. Overall, it was only 148.4 inches long. Then, the armor of the car was based on the combination of aluminum and plastic to minimize its weight. The Mercedes SLA was heavily hyped back then, however, it never reached the production stage because the execs of the brand decided that it was too complex to make at that time. Despite that, some of the features of the car were adopted into latter models like the 2004 Mercedes SLK… Continue Reading »

Still A Long Wait For Those Expecting An S-Class 4-Door Convertible

While the Ocean Drive concept from 2007 gave glimpses of what it would be like to drive around in a four-door S-Class convertible, it seems that such a car will remain exactly that, a concept.  We now know that the upcoming S-Class will have a convertible in its lineup, although it will be a 2-door version. However, a 4-door convertible is not in the works for now because as anyone beholden to cars knows, concept to showroom is a far step, involving engineering, market studies, safety tests, etcetera, etcetera. In the case of a four-door convertible for the soon-to-be-released S-Class, it seems that it will be the engineering challenge that… Continue Reading »
