It appears that Mercedes-Benz is aiming to start the holidays early as it converted a Travego bus into a Christmas fair on wheels, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The inspiration of the Christmas Travego of the luxury vehicle manufacturer from Germany may be a Coca Cola commercial where two company trucks were decked out with lights to spread holiday cheer.
Since the advertisement drew a good amount of positive reviews, the soda company has been using it for a number of years already. It also spawned a number of sequels. When it comes out on TV, viewers normally think that Christmas is nearly here.
The Christmas Travego conveys both the warmth associated with Christmas as well as the coldness from the northern winter. The DesignStudio of the bus and coach facility at Mannheim came up with the concept while Heymann provided all the lighting and other ornaments for the bus.
The decked-out bus is not a simple showpiece since it will be made available for hire a couple of week before Christmas to anyone interested in using it. A number have already expressed their interest in the bus. The festive bus will be used by the Regensburg Cathedral Choir for a Christmas concert. An unnamed Augsburg-based company also indicated that it will hire the bus in ferrying severely-disabled children free of charge to the event. On the other hand, a bus and coach company from Straubing indicated it will use the Christmas Travego to bring kindergarten kids to and from an upcoming Christmas market.
A Travego M was used for the festive bus as it was covered completely in foil and decked out with LED light strips in green, red and blue. The colored lights can be lit up simultaneously or in different combinations. The controls are positioned along the workstation of the driver.
The Christmas Travego of Mercedes-Benz will be making the rounds until December 28 before they will be turned back into a regular Travego.
