Korean traders under wraps for illegal export of Mercedes-Benz

As if being arrested for supporting North Korea’s bid for world domination thru the exportation of harmless ceramic tiles enroute to Kim-JOng iL’s beloved country wasn’t crazy enough, a group of Korean traders in Tokyo, Japan were served a fresh plate of arrest warrants for another mischievous act – shipping out secondhand Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Now, as avid fans of the brand, it is not part of our intentions to deprive our NoKon brothers of their God-given right to enjoy the fruits of German engineering. The only problem is, the Japanese government seems to be against the idea of senior NoKon officials getting command of the said fleet of exported vehicles…. Continue Reading »

Now Is A Good Time To Buy A C-Class In China

Some Mercedes dealers in China are reportedly slashing prices on their C-Class inventories in order to keep sales going. This is in reaction to the moves by Chinese authorities to decongest its major cities and tighten lending controls. Coupled with a slowdown in growth, the top luxury carmakers in China, meaning the top three German automakers, are resorting to deep discounts to keep their sales momentum going. BMW has reportedly offered a 19% discount on some 3-series models and some Mercedes-Benz dealers have countered with a 20% discount on C-Class models. Beijing-based analyst Scott Laprise of CLSA Asia Pacific Markets notes that, “We’re in a cycle of dropping prices. Dealers… Continue Reading »

Chinese Police Department Disguises ML350 As A Honda

We can only scratch our heads in wonder at the idiotic attempt of this police department in China to fools its own constituency. Recently, reports surfaced that police officials in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, in China, rebadged their expensive ML350 patrol vehicle to disguise that fact that it cost almost $140,000 to purchase. By installing Honda CR-V badges on the grill and tailgate of the Mercedes SUV, said officials hoped citizens of the town would think they spent only $30,000, which is what a Honda CR-V costs in China. But this stupidity backfired on the local police because anyone following automotive trends in China can see that that country is undergoing a… Continue Reading »
