Mercedes-Benz Forges New Partnership with China’s Google

After announcing its new partnership with Qualcomm in the development of wireless charging units for its electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz went on to make a deal with another tech giant. According to Reuters, Daimler just forged a tie with Baidu in China. Baidu is a web services company operating in China. Its services are similar to Google like providing Chinese language search engine for websites, images, and multimedia files. First Long Wheelbase Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4MATIC Introduced in China

Aside from Concept GLC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz also unveiled its C200L 4MATIC sedan at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. The car is the long wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In addition, the car is the first model in the Chinese C-Class segment to get the 4MATIC system, according to CarNewsChina. The long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4MATIC is a unique model as it features both a sporty and stretched design. The car would be exclusively available to customers in China. Mercedes-Benz Slapped with $56.5M Fine for Price-Fixing in China

Things are taking a tough turn for foreign automakers in China. Mercedes-Benz, in particular, was slapped with an expensive fine for being guilty of price-fixing in the country. According to a BBC report, Mercedes was penalized for a total of 350 million yuan or approximately $56.5 million for its misconduct in the Chinese market. Even local dealers selling the luxury vehicles offered by the brand were not spared as they were also required by a Jiangsu-based consumer watchdog to pay around 7.7 million yuan. Mercedes-Benz and Smart Start the Year with High Sales

Daimler AG, through its Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, started 2015 on a high note. The group displayed impressive sales this January compared to the same month of the previous year.
