Daimler seems to be on a roll lately as its global Mercedes sales rose to its highest level in the month of November. According to Reuters, the Mercedes sales worldwide grew by 10.9 percent to 133,441 automobiles. The company attributes the strong sales to the high demand of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class model. It is improved further by the boost of sales in China and North American territories. In the statement released by Daimler last Thursday, the year- to-date Mercedes sales increased by 10.7 percent. By now, you might have heard of something called DENZA, which is the battery-running electric vehicle that is a product of the joint venture between Daimler and Chinese automaker BYD. According to Daimler, DENZA should be on schedule for its 2014 market introduction, which was the tentative timetable announced before, set to coincide with the Auto China trade fair. Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts in China are in for a treat, because Daimler has just confirmed that it is planning on building a Mercedes-Benz Museum in the Asian country. The plans for what would be called a ‘Mercedes Benz Cultural Center’, which will include a museum, were announced at an event held in the capital of Beijing this past weekend. New spy shots revealed that a new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is in the works in China. Apparently, the exact location of the sighting was at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in the city of Qingdao in the Shandong Province. The source, CarNewsChina, is pretty positive about the car being an S-Class because the light camouflage revealed the traditional features of the variant. According to the report, the new car will be launched at the Chengdu Auto Show in China on September this year. Then, the car will roll out in the Chinese car market probably in October, just a month after its launching.
To further enhance its commercial vehicle operations in China, Daimler AG has established Daimler Trucks and Buses China Ltd. (DTBC), a new legally independent entity that will be responsible for ensuring that Daimler can supply specific customer needs as far as commercial vehicles are concerned.
