BMW Plays Catch Up on Mercedes US Sales

The overall Mercedes US sales showed that the three-pointed star brand is still at the top of the game this year in the luxury vehicle category. However, the gap between the Daimler-owned brand and its rival BMW has narrowed. Last March, BMW has displayed its best March sales so far in the luxury vehicle segment. According to Reuters, the Bayerische Motoren Werke AG brand was able to sell 32,107 luxury vehicles in the month that just ended, which translates to 19 percent more than what the company sold in 2013. Mercedes-Benz Showed the Least Recall Rate in the US Says Research

A 30-year study that focused on the safety of vehicles in the US revealed that Mercedes-Benz had the lowest recorded recall rate. According to Reuters, the research was conducted by a Woburn, Massachusetts-based firm called iSeeCars. The study reviewed 15 major automakers operating in the US. The methodology of the long-term study compared the number of vehicles recalled from 1985 to 2014 with the number of cars sold within 1980 to 2013. Based on the data, Mercedes-Benz recalls vehicles at a rate of 0.41. That means Mercedes recalls 41 vehicles for every 100 units sold. Mercedes Remains on Top of US Luxury Car Market

Mercedes-Benz continues to maintain its lead over its competitors in the US luxury car market. In fact, Bloomberg has reported that it was able to widen its sales gap between its major rivals BMW and Audi with its record sales in February.
