The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is Drive’s Car of the Year Winner

Awards are stuff that Mercedes-Benz is no longer a stranger of. Being the very definition of excellence in almost all of its products, it is not surprising anymore when it bags new distinctions from award-giving bodies. Recently, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, particularly the C200 model, gained another award that gives it the bragging rights against it rivals. Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains bags Dewar Trophy for F1 power unit design

Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) was awarded the 2014 Dewar Trophy, the most prestigious engineering accolade in British automotive engineering awarded by the Royal Automobile Club, for the PU106A Hybrid Formula One Power Unit that was designed, developed, and built fully in HPP’s facilities in Brixworth. This year marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sir Thomas Dewar, for which the trophy is named. 2014 also marks ‘120 years of motorsport success for Mercedes-Benz’ and is a major technological turning point in Formula 1 with the introduction of the new power units. It’s like Mercedes-Benz Vans just can’t help but bring home more awards from all over. After its wins in the Motoring Matters Awards and the Van Fleet Awards, a couple of the division’s offerings grabbed awards from a specialist jury at the 2013 Courier, Express and Parcel Services Van of the Year competition that’s hosted by the Stuttgart-based ETM-Verlag publishing company. Off Road Magazine Readers Vote Mercedes-Benz Unimog Vehicle of the Year (Special Vehicles Category)

In the Special Vehicles category, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog won the best off-road vehicle of the year, as voted by the readers of the Off Road trade magazine. The Unimog garnered 31.1 percent of the votes in its segment. A total of more than 74,000 votes cast for some 125 vehicles that were included in the thirteen categories. The German Association of Motor Journalists (VdM) has awarded to Mercedes Prof. Dr. Ing. Rodolfo Schöneburg the Gold Diesel Ring in recognition of his lifetime work in improving vehicle safety. Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Awarded A+ Efficiency Rating, Environmental Certificate

The Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID has just been awarded a Class A+ energy efficiency rating along with an Environmental Certificate after going through the TUV Sud Life Cycle Assessment. The vehicle passed the tests conducted by the independent inspection body. It has been projected that the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID produces 23 percent less CO2 emissions compared to an E 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. That’s over the vehicle’s life cycle, from being a finished vehicle to being used for over 250,000 kilometers, and even through to recovery.
