Based on a popular benchmarking platform, Mercedes-Benz is the most popular car brand in the digital media for the first half of 2014. The assessment of the top car brands in the world was facilitated by eBench. The period covered was from January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014. The automakers that were included in the study, aside from Mercedes-Benz, were Audi, BMW, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lexus and Land Rover. Mercedes-AMG to Supply Aston Martin with Engines and Electric/Electronic Components

Daimler’s high-performance brand, Mercedes-AMG, has just signed a corresponding Letter of Intent for a planned technical partnership with British luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd., or more popularly known simply as Aston Martin. As per the terms of the partnership, Mercedes-AMG will supply Aston Martin with engines and Mercedes-Benz Cars will be responsible for some electric and electronic components for use in future Aston Martin models. Aston Martin Introduces the CC100 During Its Centennial Celebration

As part of the centennial celebration of Aston Martin, the company unveiled its CC100 Speedster concept last May 19 at the Nordschliefe. According to Autoblog, the two-seater concept car is packed with a 6.0-liter V12 engine with six-speed sequential manual paddleshift gearbox. It is capable of going from zero to 60mph in just a span of four seconds. Then, its top speed is limited to 180mph. On the other hand, the armor of the car is made up of carbon fiber materials. Potential Engine Supply Pact for Aston Martin and Daimler

According to a report via Bloomberg, Mercedes-Benz’s parent company, Daimler AG, is currently engaged in talks with Aston Martin for a deal that could potentially make Daimler an engine supplier for the British luxury automaker. Aston May Need More Than Just AMG Engines

It may be possible that future Aston Martins will have more than just the AMG engines and may include the electronic architecture of Mercedes-Benz. This followed the report on the investment made by Investindustrial into the British sports car manufacturer. After selling Ducati to Audi, the private equity firm bought a 37.5 percent stake in Aston. Talks on the proposed partnership between Maybach and Aston Martin have apparently been halted due to unreasonable demands from one of the parties. You may recall that Daimler and Aston Martin have been in talks for several months now to build the next range of models for the struggling Maybach brand.
