C63 AMG Convertible Rendered By Enthusiast

Inspired by the C63 AMG that was shown at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, this rendering by a Mercedes enthusiast shows what a possible C63 convertible would look like with its top down.  User Tuvra at the Pistonheads forum is apparently artistic and proficient at Photoshop as the image above shows. If some of the elements of the design look familiar, it’s because the artist took inspiration from the rare Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM. Which is where the rear spoiler now apparently comes from.

But being a C63, it would certainly have the 6.3-liter V8 developed by AMG with an output of  almost 520 horsepower. That would certainly be more than enough to blow dry your hair on a sunny Sunday morning, with the 7-speed DCT transmission allowing you to just poke on the accelerator or do some fancy shifting yourself. Variants like these are a very real possibility, as a possible C63 sedan was recently seen testing, and who can forget the SLS convertible launched just a few months ago?

SLS AMG Asserts Its Presence In Real-World Video

Coverage of the SLS AMG has certainly not been lacking for the German manufacturer’s fabulous supercar, but a lot of these have been produced by professional outfits tasked with coming up with high quality output to make an impact.

But the SLS AMG doesn’t need extra help to make its presence felt, as this video shows. Taken at a mall in the UAE, the clip begins with the car entering the frame as it prowls down the driveway leading towards the road. Looking like a runway model on a catwalk, the SLS AMG exudes a presence that cannot be ignored. The rumble of the exhaust as it passes the camera promises of performance that surely exhilarates and which few cars can match. It’s too bad the road wasn’t long enough for the driver to make a full throttle run. Most enthusiasts who don’t even dare to dream of owning this supercar would surely have appreciated seeing the sound and fury this car can unleash.

AMG Performance Media Track Monitor Shown

AMG recently showed its AMG Performance Media module for its cars. The video below shows the data that can be accessed via the APM. These include 0-100 km/h acceleration times, a G-meter to measure acceleration, braking and cornering forces, throttle and brake inputs, lap timer, engine output, tire pressures, engine temp and a history function for comparing your and the car’s performance across various tracks. For the enthusiast, monitoring these functions enables one to use the data to improve the performance of the car and driver combination.

These real-time data logging functions have been available for some time now from aftermarket companies. But by allowing this data to be accessed through the multifunction display, the interior of the AMG vehicle retains its look without having a tacky add-on mar the availability of the additional data.

By the way, the demonstration run you will see was done  on an SLS AMG at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany.

B-Class AMG Shows Variant-Specific Details

200912717120 B Class AMG Shows Variant Specific Details

Already hinted at and widely expecteed, the B-Class AMG has finally been seen in the wild.  As befits, and typical of, an AMG high performance variant, the B-Class AMG features a revised snout with bigger intakes plus a rear fascia with twin exhausts. Being an AMG model, these exterior revisions are definitely not for display only as the rumor is that this hot B-Class will be powered by a 2-liter turbocharged four with an output between 320 and 360 horsepower. As with most other high performance models in the market today, a dual-clutch transmission will transfer power to the driven wheels. All-wheel drive is a very real possibility.

We can also expect revised suspension settings that will favor handling, as well as uprated brakes. AMG-specific wheel and tire combos will add a unique look as well as sharper cornering. With these modifications, the B-Class should become a worthy competitor to the Audi RS3.

Jay Leno Drives The SLS AMG Roadster At The MB Track

When a world-famous car-loving, car-collecting comedian takes the time to visit your factory, you of course roll out a grand welcome and use what footage you have to thumb your nose at your competitors.

MBUSA’s release of this clip shows Jay Leno hopping off a private plane and being greeted by the AMG CEO himself. Taking to a track that he saw only in pictures in his youth, Jay Leno gets advice from Mercedes driver and ambassador David Coulthard who tells Jay to just basically “trust the car”. The final part of the video shows Jay helping out with assembling an AMG engine. One doesn’t know if Robert the technician is a really serious guy who’s serious about his work or he’s just apprehensive that Jay will screw up his handcrafted engine.

Being the comedian that he is, Jay must have wreaked havoc on the work atmosphere during his tour of the facilities.
