Mercedes-Benz Invests $1 Billion For Electric Vehicles in the US

Mercedes-Benz continues to push its momentum in tapping into the electric vehicle market in the US. In line with the goal to produce electric variants of all its models going to 2022, the company revealed that it is investing $1 billion in the region. The Mercedes-Benz R-Class is staging a comeback. But this time, it will be targeted exclusively for customers in China. According to CNBC, the assembly of the R-Class recently commenced at the AM General assembly plant located in Mishakawa, Indiana. It was the same facility that built the Hummer H2 from 2002 to 2009. Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Production Starts in Tuscaloosa Plant

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe recently had its production launch at the Tuscaloosa Plant. According to Carscoops, Daimler has allotted $4.5 billion from its budget to be utilized in the said plant for the production of the entire standard GLE lineup, plus its coupe version. Mercedes Alabama Plant Workers Have the Highest Pay in US

It really pays off working with Mercedes, in a literal sense. According to Reuters, citing a study conducted by the Center for Automotive Research, workers at the Mercedes Alabama plant have the highest hourly pay and benefits compared to other car factories in the US. On the other hand, the people in the rival luxury car makers of the brand, namely BMW and Volkswagen, are the least earners based on the same study. Mercedes-Benz Boosts SUV Production in Alabama Plant

  Mercedes-Benz is currently facing a high demand for its sport utility vehicles in the United States. The demand is such that Mercedes-Benz USA already warned that the supply for its SUV’s would be tight, similar to the CLA issue earlier. To address the impending shortage, Mercedes is expanding the operations of its Alabama plant to be able to accommodate the production of additional 60,000 vehicles annually.
