Daimler has just tapped Zurich-based multinational corporation ABB to supply fast chargers for the DENZA electric vehicle, which is set to be released in China under Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology, or BDNT for short, the Daimler and BYD joint venture.

The fast chargers can be purchased through official DENZA dealerships and are designed to, well, reduce the time it takes to juice up the EV. In addition, people can utilize standard wall sockets in order to charge the DENZA car. This way, owners get optimal flexibility and total convenience.

Another thing that adds to the convenience of the ABB fast chargers is the implementation of a mobile app. This app will let owners remotely monitor and control the charger, so they can stay on top of charging status.

With the Chinese government setting a fast-charging standard designed to help EVs gain ground in the country, it’s important for BDNT to get a reliable partner when it comes to key components. ABB is one of the leading power and automation companies in the world, and has numerous divisions dealing with power-related products for a variety of industries and applications.

Cars like the DENZA EV are key in China’s growing car market. Especially when you factor in the effects of cars in terms of pollution, sustainable transportation is a vital aspect that Daimler and BYD hope to address. Getting a partner like ABB only helps in the automakers’ effort to ensure the smooth rollout of such an effort.

The DENZA electric vehicle is slated to make its debut this April, at Beijing’s Auto China trade fair.
