Mercedes-Benz Cars reports 20.6% decline in February sales

Daimler AG today reported sales for the Mercedes-Benz Cars division (Mercedes-Benz and smart combined) of 15,614 vehicles in the U.S. for February 2009. Mercedes-Benz USA reported February sales of 14,199 vehicles. While sales for the month were down by 23.5%, the company’s February volume put it ahead of its mainstream competitors for the month. A key contributor to February performance was the all-new 2010 GLK350, MBUSA’s versatile, compact SUV, which made a strong showing during its first full month on the market with sales of 1,918. Geneva 2009: Mercedes-Benz presents new E-Class sedan and coupé

Mercedes-Benz releases official details about the Gullwing

You don’t see this everyday – high resolution promo pictures of a test mule in heavy camo. Mercedes-Benz has decided to shell some light and release official details of their upcoming replacement to the SLR – the SLC Gullwing. Nope scratch that, it will actually be called the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The SLS (Gullwing) will be smaller than the outgoing SLR, which in addition to the all-new aluminum space frame contributes to a weight of just 3,571 lbs, a full 300 lbs less than the SLR McLaren. Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG spied at Nürburgring

Fresh spy shots have been published over at AutoWeek, showing what appears to be an E63 with some light camo – not sure why that is still necessary. The E63 is set to debut at this years Frankfurt Auto Show in September. The engine will probably be a 6.3 liter V8 with approximately 525hp if not more. It’s being reported that Mercedes-Benz is getting rid of the brake-by-wire system known as SBC. The new E63’s conventional brakes will have disc-wiping capabilities and selective corner brake control. When it hits the streets sometime next year, it may even be equipped with ceramic breaks.
