We reported that Niki Lauda kind of confirmed courting defending 3-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel, but apparently, there was really no need for Mercedes AMG Petronas fans to get excited. Niki Lauda has confirmed that he is courting Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel, the man who is arguably the most dominant driver in Formula 1 at the moment. This was confirmed via the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. The effort to have Vettel join the team is something that Lauda says was begun by the previous motorsport director at Mercedes-Benz, Norbert Haug. Mercedes AMG Performance Drive to Feature Schumacher, Rosberg in Nurburgring Warm-up

In the lead-up to the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring on May 19, Mercedes-Benz will stage a special showcase called Mercedes AMG Performance Drive, which will pit a quartet of Mercedes AMG vehicles against the lone F1 Silver Arrow to be driven by motorsport legend Michael Schumacher. In a week’s time, Mercedes-Benz will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the historic major race debut of the W 154 Silver Arrow. On May 15, 1938, at the Tripoli Grand Prix, the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows rode all the way to a triple victory at the first major race of the season. Hermann Lang won the GP after logging 2:33:17.14 over 40 laps driving in the new car, but he was followed across the finish line by teammates Manfred von Brauchitsch and Rudolf Caracciola, who would be subsequently named European Champion.
