The influx of automobiles in China has contributed greatly to growing concerns about traffic and pollution in the country, deemed as the biggest market in the world. Enter Daimler and BYD, its local partner in China, who are hoping that their new all-electric luxury vehicle concept—called the Denza—will spark electric car sales in the nation to help alleviate environmental concerns.

Electric cars haven’t really sold all too well in China, but the two companies are betting on their luxury electric car to dazzle prospective buyers and give them enough oomph to consider getting the Denza. After all, it’s got a ton of features on top of the green tech: it’s got a bunch of gadgets called T-Pads that provide various functions such as video, web access, and GPS navigation.

How is the Denza important for China? The government has set its sights on 500,000 electric cars on its highways by the year 2015, and needless to say it is bound to fall short of that goal based on current projections. How much more for the 2020 target of 5 million battery-powered units?

With the Denza concept, Daimler and BYD aim to introduce not just a new segment of the luxury electric car, but also a new lifestyle. By making the car exciting and appealing with the design and technology, people might just hop on the electric car bandwagon faster.

Because Hollywood stars have been attracted to green  campaigns and environmental projects, it is no surprise that a lot of actors and actresses are also getting interested in green cars.

For example, Diane Kruger, one of the 35 environmental supporters in California, was also one of the first to drive the emission free B-Class F-Cell. “I’m excited to be driving the F-CELL. It’s environmentally conscious, fun to drive and gets lots of attention on the streets, ” she said.

She further added that, “I can travel around 400 kilometres on a full tank and it’s easy to refuel.” It is because of its consumption is equal to a fuel consumption of just 3.3 liters  per 100km. Aside from that, it can be filled in 3 minutes, which is great if you are in a hurry but still has to fill-up.

Other celebrities who chose Mercedes for eco-friendliness are Renee Zellweger, Michelle Williams, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Vergara, Courteney Cox, Natalie Portman, Katharine McPhee, Nick Swisher and Serena Williams.

Video: SLR McLaren is a sitting duck

179749 597x447 Video: SLR McLaren is a sitting duck

This is embarassing. Imagine scooting around town in your badass Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren only to end up being handed a parking violation ticket by an officer driving a Smart car.

In case you’re wondering, a new SLR McLaren held a price tag of just over half a million dollars during its time. It seems the wealthy owner, self-titled “Prince of Germany”, was simply begging to get caught by displaying his ride in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The officers just happened to be driving along Beverly Hills, California in their Smart Fortwo when, lo and behold, there sitting in a no-parking zone was the 617hp supercar dressed up in Hugo Boss and Vodafone decals.

Too bad the SLR McLaren’s AMG-tuned V8 engine was rendered helpless right beside the Fortwo whose 1-liter 3-cylinder inline engine hummed silently in mockery.

So remember folks, whether you’re driving around town in an SLR McLaren or SLS AMG, make sure you park it properly ayt? Now check out the video.

Megaupload founder’s wife pleads return of confiscated Mercedes-Benz

They say that karma has a funny way of circling back towards people who gain from other people’s losses. It sure looks like the ugly truth for Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom whose extravagant lifestyle has been put on hold thanks to copyright infringement charges.

Really, they had it coming. The wife even pleaded to the courts asking them to give back at least some of her property in order to keep their household thriving. Part of this property is a $202,000 G55 Mercedes SUV.

“I am simply asking the courts to return my own property and make reasonable provision for our family’s ongoing maintenance and care,” says Mona Dotcom.

In case you’re wondering just how wealthy the couple is, imagine that the hubby slash founder is up against copyright holders who have been cheated out of at least $500 million in claims. Sweet day to be one of those copyright holders.

Check out the license plates on the couple’s cars. Just shows how they feel owning that much money through twisted ends. Looking at these Mercedes-Benz vehicles, it’s hard to feel sorry for these two.

The CLS 63 AMG Stealth by GSC

GSC CLS63AMG 001 597x396 The CLS 63 AMG Stealth by GSC

What do you get when you soup up an already fast car using a package centered on a Stealth aerodynamic kit? That’s the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Stealth by tuner German Special Customs.

The aerodynamic body of this tuned car, as well as its body color, really shows off the design that’s influenced by stealth airplanes. There’s a new hood with a broad shaft, fresh side skirts, and a broader front fascia. Instead of the Mercedes-Benz logo adorning the front grille, the GSC emblem is displayed on that section. Oh, the new bumber is also laced with LED daytime running lights for added functionality and style.

With those additions and the performance upgrades provided for the Stealth’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the custom vehicle generates 225 horsepower more than the standard AMG variant. The Stealth’s 750 horsepower is aided by a new exhaust system, bigger turbochargers, and a bonus water cooler. New 20-inchers are in place, while drivers will also get to play nice with the front axle’s adjustable suspensions.

The GSC CLS 63 AMG Stealth has a top speed of nearly 350 kph, while its 0-100 kph time is rated at a mere 3.7 seconds.
