Mercedes-Benz Actros Cops Two More Design Awards

The new Mercedes-Benz Actros just keeps adding to its collection of awards. Not content with a red dot design award, the flagship long-distance truck from the Mercedes-Benz just claimed two additional presitigious awards: the German Design Award 2013 for Transportation and Public Space as well as the Focus in Gold 2012 award in the category of Vehicles. That makes it three design wins for the new Actros, which has been in production since the autumn of 2011. Mercedes-Benz Actros Bagged the red dot award

When it comes to beauty and performance, no doubt, Mercedes trucks are winners. This is proven by numerous awards being given to these beautiful monsters, the most recent was the red dot award. The red dot award is an international design competition. This year, 58 countries and 1,800 manufacturers and designers competed to get a citation from them, and not surprisingly, the Actros captured the judges’ attention. “What is important is a durable and functional design idiom that continues to look appealing and modern for years to come. The New Actros Hook Lift at the Munich Trade Fair

The Mercedes-Benz Actros will be shown as a hook at the New Munich Trade Fair Center from May 7 to May 11, 2012. The Actros is the 2012 Truck of the Year, and because Mercedes-Benz in not the company to settle and be complacent, they enhanced the truck even more. With a Meiller and Palfinger hook lift, it is now an epitome of dynamics and comfort in a long-distance truck variant. You can find it, together with other Mercedes cars, in Hall C4.

Video: Actros as a Taxi?

A nice video made in cooperation with Jung von Matt, the leading ad agency of Daimler, shows the Actros as a taxi to show its harshest critics what are its benefits. It passed by Volvo and MAN and picked up passengers from their offices. The result was impressive, not surprisingly, because the “employees” of the competitors seem to like what they saw inside the Mercedes truck. People at the Munich airport were also fascinated by the “taxi truck”, who wouldn’t be?

Actros Named 2012 International Truck of the Year

Unveiled in Brussels only last June, Mercedes’ new Actros truck has once again been named Truck of the Year for 2012, making it two years in a row for this commercial vehicle from Mercedes’ truck division. Equipped with the Mercedes OM471 engine, the Actros fully complies with the latest Euro emissions standard. Its highly efficient design also allows it to consume up to 7.6% less fuel, a significant metric when you’re talking about fleet efficiencies. Mercedes ACTROS Put on a 10,000KM Test

Mercedes-Benz’ truck, ACTROS, after it has been announced last week that it will be especially for long distance haul, has now been tested for a 10,000KM drive. Now, the official efficiency numbers of the EURO VI engine has been revealed. First off, the EURO V version runs more efficiently at 7.6% less diesel in the 10,000KM test than the current Actros 1844 BlueTec 5. However, the engine knocked the old generation’s consumption by 4.56% and offers lower emissions. Long-Distance Actros Trucks Up for Orders

We’ve already reported that Mercedes-Benz’s new Actros line will be launching sometime in the second half of 2012. Recently, however, the German automaker has announced that the long-distance Actros trucks are now up for order. These long-distance haulers are designed to be clean and green—they’re the only trucks that comply with the strict Euro VI emission requirements.
