Anderson Germany gets their hands on the Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG Black Edition

anderson germany mercedes cl 65 amg black edition 001 597x398 Anderson Germany gets their hands on the Mercedes Benz CL 65 AMG Black Edition

Tuners are hard at work it seems in their craft. The latest Mercedes-Benz ramification comes from Anderson Germany with their version of the Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG Black Edition. Theirs features an engine upgrade that involves specialized computer software optimization, sports air filter, plasma-coated exhaust system with racing catalytic converters, and larger accessory pulleys to bump power up to 670hp.

The vinyl-wrapped appearance gives the car that novel image just begging for aggression and respect at the same time. Well, Anderson Germany prefers to call it satin matte deluxe/black. The kit also includes a jet-black carbon exterior packet that consists of an external mirror, window frames, front grille, door handles, hatchback panel, ventilator frames on the bonnet, and diverse engine room coverings. A rear spoiler lip rides the back to complete the aerodynamic package.

What’s kind of odd is that Anderson Germany decided to equip the car with an electronically-adjustable suspension. While it’s not entirely bad, it just doesn’t add up to have an automatic suspension setup to handle 670 horses of power.

Well, anyway, the whole thing rolls with 22-inch rims that are black/gloss finished with matching jet black carbon edging, so it’s still worth attention. The interior is a sight to behold as well if you’re fond of warm colored trims and leather. Anderson Germany also accepts customer-specific tailoring, so yes, this car is definitely going to turn heads on the streets.

Dollar for dollar, the S400 Hybrid offers the best value among hybrids

08mbs400hybridreview2010 597x396 Dollar for dollar, the S400 Hybrid offers the best value among hybrids

The Toyota Prius ain’t fairing quite well in its bid to be the best hybrid ever. In fact, it’s doing bad in terms of paying back through fuel savings what you spent for its battery and electric motor. It looks like Toyota still has a long way to go before achieving par excellence in the realm of hybridization. For Mercedes-Benz, however, it’s an entirely different story. That begs the question of how an $88,000 premium car packing a 15kW electric motor best the $22-30,000 Prius?

Yes, the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid costs around four times the price tag of a Prius. However, it pays its dues by saving you enough fuel money, in five years, to equate the difference in cost between its retail price and the price of gasoline-powered Mercedes. That’s according to the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA), by the way.

Here’s another selling point of the S400 Hybrid—it’s actually the entry-level S-Class model that’s now being sold in North America. It’s cheaper than the cheapest non-hybrid S-Class by around a few thousand dollars. You know what that means. The S400 hybrid doesn’t have to save any of your fuel money to pay back what you added over a regular gasoline-powered S-Class. There’s nothing to pay. It’s cheaper than your regular gasoline-powered S-Class. You’ve already saved money by buying it. We hope we’ve highlighted that enough to get your attention.

As for fuel savings? BCAA estimates around $5,000 over five years. That should get it sold. Need we say more?

2011 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG to Debut In Australia

2011 mercedes benz s63 amg 01 4c563172e346d 1280x1024 597x368 2011 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG to Debut In Australia After over a year from its last update, Mercedes-Benz this week presented to the public the 2011 S63 AMG, powered by the German carmaker’s latest 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 engine. While Mercedes maintains development of the brand new S-Class, anticipated to debut on the last quarter of next year as a 2012 model, this last modernization to the present generation S63 AMG is nonetheless a very important one, due to the latest engine. To take over the 390kW/630Nm 6.2 litre V8 that is presently doing service in the AMG assembly, the latest smaller-capacity twin-turbo-charged V8 generates 400kW and 800Nm of torque. The 5.5 litre V8 powerplant’s maximum power is available at 4400rpm, with the large torque capability going between 2000 rpm and 4500 rpm.

Assisted with the inclusion of direct injection and a stop/start system, fuel consumption measures at 10.5 l/100km, thus having a 25 percent progress over the previous model. Carbon emissions have also dropped, measuring at 244g/km. A much effective model of the engine will be released, with its power increased to 420kW and 900m of torque, due to the AMG Performance Package. In both cases, the S63 is installed with SpeedShift MCT seven speed automatic transmission, the combination of powering the regular model to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds, with an electronically controlled maximum speed of 250km/h. Bring in the AMG Performance package, and the 100km/h point is attained in a slightly faster 4.4 seconds, while the maximum speed is amplified to 300km/h.

Aesthetic modifications to the 2011 S63 AMG are clever to say the least, with the ever present LED daytime running lights in the outer intakes of the front bumper, together with the latest 19-inch alloy wheels and V8 Biturbo feature. Its breaking is administered through a double floating front calipers up front, and standard sliding calipers at the rear.

The interior of the S63 AMG gets a humble modification with a top of the line instrument cluster and new stitching colours have been put in to the ‘Passion” leather upholstery. Australian debut dates and price tag for the latest S63 AMG have not yet been revealed, but Mercedes-Benz Manager for Corporate Communications, Jerry Stamoulis has stated that the latest model will surely be presented in Australia.

Superchips presents remapped ECU for C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY

mercedes benz c350 cdi 597x427 Superchips presents remapped ECU for C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY
The Brits really got it going on with their tuning prowess as Superchips presents their latest take on the Mercedes-Benz C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY. They have now released a remapped ECU boosting power up by 34 bhp and 80 Nm. The new ECU is applicable to all variants of the C, E, M and R and S-Class models, and has been verified through intense road, chassis and dyno testing.

The Superchips ECU will give you an additional 34 bhp at 3,008 rpm, thus giving you a maximum power of 284 bhp, as opposed to 250 bhp in stock form. But unlike most ECU’s that bump the power while sacrificing drivability, Superchips says theirs gives you maximum power anywhere from 2,700 to 4,400 rpm. Torque has been spread out from 642 Nm at 2,469 rpm to a maximum of 2,549 Nm at 3,009 rpm. That should give your right foot enough room to handle all the power.

With a balance in power and drivability, Superchip’s remapped ECU should result in a more edgier driving experience, with sharper acceleration and throttle response. Heck, it gives you enough power not only to overtake but to tow as well. But even with all that power, the engine will still feel smooth as silk. It’s now available for GBP 445. That pricetag includes installation and taxes and should be applicable for all models from June 2009 onwards.

mercedes s class 1f 597x398 Entire S Class range now rolls with Bang & Olufsen

Want more bang for your buck? Then you’ll be happy to hear that Mercedes-Benz’s entire S-Class range is now going to feature Bang & Olufsen’s audio system. Yes, it’s true, and it shall start in September of this year.

Bang & Olufsen’s 15-speaker, 1200 Watt system used to be an exclusive feature on the S-Class AMG variant. Being one of the world’s best car audio equipment manufacturers, the Danish brand is widely recognized for being an exclusive feature on high-end premium vehicles. Their audio system offers incredible sound and visuals to everyone in the vehicle, thus creating the best kind of listening and watching environment possible.

The system showcases incredible sound and design components such as tweeters near the door mirrors, adaptive LED lighting that can be controlled on the main interface, and a light sensor that’s mounted on the rear-view mirror. The sensor detects ambient light conditions to make subtle adjustments to the LEDs. There’s also a sensor that senses the presence of front passengers for automatic optimization of sound levels upfront.

None other than Band & Olufsen Automotive Managing Director Jans Peter Zinck revealed how happy they are to work with Mercedes-Benz. He even hints of further developments to standardize their audio systems in future Mercedes-Benz models.

The new CL 63 and CL 65 AMG

2011 mercedes benz cl63 amg and cl65 amg leaked images 100315694 l 4c350e9fc1d7b 615x350 597x387 The new CL 63 and CL 65 AMG

Here’s a sizzling update to the recently revealed 2011 CL-Class. Mercedes-Benz has just given to the press fresh images and lively details of the future CL 63 AMG and CL65 AMG models. Now, if you’re no stranger to AMG and Mercedes-Benz, you’ll know that this pair spells out high performance. Well, not in the super car realms of the SLS AMG, but enough to take the flagship pole in the company’s line of premium passenger vehicles.

There’ve been a lot of rumors that Mercedes-Benz might drop the old ‘63′ badging and use numbers that are representative of the new engine displacements to be put under the hood. However, as these images reveal, nothing can be farther than the truth.

Performance wise, expect no less mind-blowing, owing to a highly modified version of the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. Throw into the mix AMG’s seven speed SpeedShift automatic tranny, the new CL 63 will be capable of 400kW of power at 5,500rpm, while pulling a maximum of 800Nm of torque anywhere from 2,000 to 4,500rpm. The sprint from zero to sixty miles per hour will take merely 4.4 seconds, while top speed will be electronically limited to 250kph, just to make sure the driver and passenger stay in one piece.

However, if you want to add even more thrill, you can always opt for AMG’s performance package which easily bumps maximum horsepower to 420kW, cutting zero to sixty time by 0.1 second. Of course, you’ll be able to pull up to 299kph, nearing the boundaries of super car performance.

The CL 65, meanwhile, is completely mind-shattering, with a highly-tuned version of the previous 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 coupled to a five-speed automatic. Performance figures? 463kW horsepower, 1000Nm maximum torque and 4.2 seconds racing from zero to sixty miles per hour. Need we say more?

There are tons of new features to be made standard which includes the COMAND infotainment system with voice control. Delivery date for the base CL models? End of 2010. AMG models? Early 2011. Stay tuned.
