Pre-launch S-Class Seen In Germany

SPY 2013 Mercedes Benz S Cla 597x398 Pre launch S Class Seen In Germany

Wearing a lot less disguise compared to other pre-production prototypes we’ve seen, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class for 2013 doesn’t seem to be radically different from its previous models. However, judging from the cladding which hides the face of this new S-Class, we cannot say for sure how it will yet look. One design which garnered crticism, the bulbous wheel arches, seems to have disappeared, leaving sleek, elegant lines that would reflect the more conservative tastes of this luxury car’s clientele. Combined with the huge grille that marks it unmistakably as a Mercedes, this big car will undoubtedly exude a presence that will overshadow most other cars on the road.

As befits the S-Class, it is safe to say that the new model will benefit from the latest performance, safety and efficiency technologies that the German automaker can bring to their premium model. The final look and features of the newest S-Class will be revealed in 6 months, when it is scheduled to be launched at the Paris Motor Show.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class is on the highest insurance loss list

Considering how much it costs, is it a surprise that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has one of the highest insurance premiums in the U.S.? As anyone who has delved into the premium costs of car insurance knows, computing a car’s insurance is derived from a host of factors, a large part of which is the age group of the driver. But another significant factor in the cost of your insurance is the historical data compiled by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Most of us know that the IIHS does crash tests. But over the years, they have also compiled data on the loss insurance companies incur on all the vehicles available on the market. The resulting vehicle loss list has now become part of the formula for computing a car owner’s insurance premium.

In the case of the S-Class, one assumes that the cost of the car is the reason for the high insurance cost. Actually, the reason why the S-Class costs so much to insure is because it places 2nd on the vehicle loss list, slotting in between the Scion tC and the Mitsubishi Lancer, which placed 1st and 3rd respectively. How and why the LWB S-Class came to be second is for the IIHS to explain. At the other end of the spectrum however, is the smart ForTwo. This car is at the top of the list for the lowest loss vehicle as far as the insurance companies are concerned. So, if you’re a family man and decide to buy a ForTwo as a commuter car, expect to pay one of the lowest premiums around. If you’re Benz is not on the list, but you’re still paying a lot of your insurnace, then it might be a good idea to get some auto insurance quotes and compare.

The New S-Class will be Available in Four Body Styles?

The New S Class will be Available in Four Body Styles 597x319 The New S Class will be Available in Four Body Styles?

According to World Car Fans blog, there has been rumors circulating in the UK that Mercedes-Benz is readying the fourth generation of the most luxurious car ever made, the Mercedes S-Class. And what they are expecting is not actually the technologies it will have, but the number of body styles that will be available. A total of four body styles, including a four-door convertible, a huge CL coupe, and two regular saloon in wheelbase version.

Mercedes’ Program Manager for the S-Class was actually the one who gave a hint that these rumors might be true when he said, “The S-Class is the best luxury car in the world, and we have many surprises in terms of technology for the new model,” he added, “It will deliver something very different to its rivals – and it will have a much broader range.”

S600 Attempts Puddle Run

stuck 597x398 S600 Attempts Puddle Run

The Mercedes S600 can be described as a top-notch luxury car, Maybach replacement, a chariot for the rich and powerful and many other things. It cannot, however, be described as an offroad vehicle. This rich Russian owner must have missed that last bit, because he tried to demonstrate his S600’s all-round capabilities, with possibly disastrous consequences.

Apart from the acute embarrassment of having a mere Lexus and an Infiniti assist this chariot of kings, the owner is possibly looking at some major dealer service. Some electronics may have shorted as a result of this excursion, and that interior will definitely have to be cleaned. It doesn’t look like the V12 ingested water (which would have wrecked the engine), but a thorough diagnostic checkup is certainly in order. But if you can afford an S600, some dealer service should not bother you. What’s curious is why take a trek through the woods in an S600 when you obviously can afford a first-class offroader like a G55?
