Mercedes-Benz is the Official Partner of Mille Miglia

The Mille Miglia, which means “Thousand Miles” in Italian, was prestigious open-road endurance race. It was held in Italy from 1927 to 1957. The race was stopped in 1957 after two fatal crashes that claimed the lives of drivers, co-driver and spectators. Then, it was resumed in 1958 to 1961, and in 1977 to commemorate its golden year. Another Mille Miglia event is being conducted again this year, which already started in May 15, and it will continue up to May 18. Mercedes-Benz is the official partner of the prestigious event. The Mille Miglia race took off at Brescia going to Padova. Next, the participants will travel down the eastern coast… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton wins 2014 Spanish GP and headlines another 1-2 finish

Another race, another Mercedes one-two finish, and the tension is mounting for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 teammates. Lewis Hamilton shook off the challenge from Nico Rosberg and held on to win the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix. As the race wound down to a close, the two teammates were silent right before the post-race interviews. With the win, Hamilton takes over the top spot in the drivers’ standings, with 100 points to Rosberg’s 97. Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull Racing took the final podium spot, while his teammate and 3-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel jumped up from P15 at the start of the race all the way to fourth place by the time the… Continue Reading »

Mercedes AMG Petronas front row to start Spanish Grand Prix

In what is starting to be a repetitive result, the Mercedes AMG Petronas cars once again took the top two spots in a qualifying session. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will take the front row when the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix starts in several hours, and it should be yet another exciting battle for the two frontrunners so far this season. This is Hamilton’s fourth pole (out of five races) this season, and we’ll see if he can make it his fourth victory as well once the race proper rolls around. Rosberg actually was the fastest guy at the Circuit de Catalunya for the first two rounds of qualifying, but Hamilton… Continue Reading »

Renamed: The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W05 Hybrid

From here on out, the Mercedes AMG Petronas race car for the 2014 Formula One season will be known as the F1 W05 Hybrid, in honor of the technology that’s present in the new Power Unit and as a testament to the commitment Mercedes-Benz has to this automotive technology. The car will now carry the familiar ‘Hybrid’ branding present in the hybrid passenger cars from the German automaker. This branding will be displayed prominently right on the engine cover. We’ll be seeing this on the Mercedes AMG Petronas cars this weekend at the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix. “What we are seeing in Formula One today is the next generation of innovations that… Continue Reading »

2014 Chinese Grand Prix – Hamilton takes pole; Rosberg in second row

It’s not the team’s best qualifying session so far in this young Formula One season, but Mercedes AMG Petronas will definitely take a pole position for Lewis Hamilton and a P4 start for Nico Rosberg, especially during a fairly wet and contested qualifying round at the 2014 Chinese Grand Prix. This markes Hamilton’s eighth pole position as a member of the Mercedes F1 team, but more importantly, it was his 34th overall pole, giving him the all-time record for a British driver. With wet conditions to start with, the Mercedes drivers went out on their wet tyres off the bat in Q1, with the intermediates being used for the next… Continue Reading »

Mercedes’ Hamilton prevails in duel with Rosberg at the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix

One second was the difference between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in a duel of the two Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 drivers at the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix. It looks increasingly likely that we will see more of this head-to-head battle between the two teammates, but Mercedes has to be happy with the team’s second one-two finish in as many races. The win catapulted Mercedes into a 67-point lead at the top of the constructor’s championship, with Force India second and McLaren third. Sergio Perez took the third podium spot, finishing 23 seconds behind Rosberg. “I was on a real knife edge at the end,” said Hamilton after the race…. Continue Reading »

Hamilton wins Malaysian GP; Rosberg second for Mercedes one-two finish

This is how dominant Mercedes AMG Petronas could be this season. In a true show of force, Lewis Hamilton dominated the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg came in at second place to secure the first one-two finish for the team this season, and at one of their home races at that. Hamilton was on point the entire race, winning it by a whopping 17.3 seconds ahead of his teammate. He has never won this event in his years as a Formula One driver, so bagging the title at the Sepang International Circuit today was quite an accomplishment for the former world champion. He was also quick to point… Continue Reading »
