Major Turkish customer orders 50 Setra coaches

setra60Years Turkey 597x396 Major Turkish customer orders 50 Setra coaches
Setra has won a major contract from the country on the Bosporus, with Turkish bus operator Metro placing an order for 50 new Setra S 416 GT-HD/2 coaches in Neu-Ulm. A Setra partner since 2002, this major customer based in Istanbul is thereby increasing the number of Setra coaches in its fleet to 214. The two-axle Setra ComfortClass 400 vehicles will be delivered from late May to early June of this year.

Established in 1992 by Galip Ötztürk, Metro cooperates with subcontractors on the long-distance routes that are so popular in Turkey. Its fleet covers 73 of the country’s 81 provinces. Having added a total of 40 double-decker S 431 DT coaches to its fleet from 2008 to 2009, the latest order represents a further milestone for the company. The 50 S 416 GT-HD/2 coaches will be Metro’s first from the new Setra ComfortClass 400. The vehicles from this facelifted model series are equipped with Front Collision Guard (FCG) impact protection and can accommodate 50 passengers.

Luxury coaches provided by the Ulm-based Daimler bus and coach brand have been travelling on Turkish roads for 27 years now. In the gateway to the Orient, the new Setra TopClass 400 and new Setra ComfortClass 400 coaches are predominately used on long-distance routes in the luxury segment.

Win a 2011 C 300 in Poway, CA

2011 C300 Win a 2011 C 300 in Poway, CA

In order to raise funds, the Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation will be raffling off a brand-new 2011 Mercedes-Benz C 300 sedan. There will be 800 tickets available, each sold at $100. That’s not a bad investment, considering the $33,990 SRP of a new C 300.

The C 300 will still be modifiable after the winner is announced at the final show of the 2010-11 season on April 16. The play on schedule for that evening is “The 39 Steps,” a play adapted from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 thriller film of the same name. The winner can pick the color of the car as well as choose to purchase any additional features.

The fundraising lottery’s proceeds will go to the foundation and something called the Arts in Education Initiative, which aims to provide workshops, assemblies and other programs that are geared to infuse some art into schools in the area.

Mercedes-Benz of Escondido will be providing the C 300. The Poway, California-based Foundation will pay it back from the proceeds of the raffle tickets.

Those interested can log on to www.powayarts.org to download a raffle entry form.

Car Insurance for the Mercedes-Benz C63-AMG

2012 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG 16 597x398 Car Insurance for the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG

Common sense would seem to indicate that an expensive, powerful car like the Mercedes-Benz C63-AMG should be expensive to insure. While it is true that the C63 can be more expensive to insure than a standard luxury car, your insurance policy doesn’t have to be as expensive as you might think. You can keep your costs down by avoiding cookie cutter policies, researching potential discounts, and comparing insurance quotes. The C63 is already equipped with above average safety equipment, which can help reduce your rates from the beginning.

Choose the Right Coverage

The C63-AMG is a unique vehicle that doesn’t fit comfortably into any standard cookie-cutter car insurance policy. You’ll need to find a policy that gives you the right amount of coverage without any extraneous features that you will probably never use. For instance, if you already have roadside assistance from the dealer, why pay for in your insurance policy?

Keep an eye on monthly premiums and deductible rates, as well. You can save a substantial amount of money every year by choosing a higher deductible. Since you will not have to pay the deductible unless you need to file a claim, every month without a claim is saving you money.

2012 S-Class Spied Testing on Ice

2012 SClass 05 597x419 2012 S Class Spied Testing on Ice

The upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was seen being tested in rough conditions, as reported by Car Advice. How rough? Negative-30-degrees-Celsius rough. The spy shots show a whole range of updates to the exterior styling.

The headlights, which should be fully equipped with LED tech, appear to have shrunk a bit in size. Car Advice expects an updated grill design that is just shy of the one on the F700 Concept.

Although the interiors were not really visible, the new S-Class will definitely stay true to its lineage and showcase a complete line of high-tech features and gadgets. After all, this is the vehicle that Mercedes-Benz uses to exhibit state-of-the-art features that are going to be included in run-of-the-mill vehicles in the future.

Across the 2012 range of S-Class vehicles, Merc will also be introducing three hybrid alternatives: plug-in, full and mild.
